Is there any reason why the temperature gauge should go straight to 90 degrees after only running the engine for about a minute from cold,but it doesn't over heat.any advise welcome

usually the temprature sensor mate(green one) not expensive..

As above only £7 when I bought mine 2 years ago. Green is the latest version.

Easy to remove and fit to, just place a cloth underneath to catch the small amount of coolant that escapes and ensure you do it on a cold morning engine.

It gets a film of coolant on it over time, a clean could do the trick, but as its a cheap part, just replace.
