Mistaken Identity

Featured Replies

This one is probably for the lounge but I thought I'd let you know I had a rather amusing conversation at the weekend:

Friend: What model is that BMW you own, it's a cracker?!!

Me (pause, smile) : er, actually it's a Skoda.

Friend: B***dy hell, it looks amazing, how much?

Me: (told him what I paid) That's brilliant, where can I get one?!

Don't know whether to be offended or pleased....................

Cheers

Hugh

Well - You could be pleased he liked the car, but I've seen many people in here talking about BMW / vRS comparisons, and I'd be offended he thought it was a beemer! - Damn cheek!

Ive had the same thing happen to me , one guy thought it was a BMW , someone else thought it was an Audi A4!

Could be worse - my grandfather thought my vRS was a Rover :argue:

looks nothing like a beemer!

bmw.txt

;)

Please tell me that's photoshopped, please tell me that's photoshopped!

:D

Q.

me want, me want ;)

:D

Don't think so. I seem to recall that its Huck's. He missed his vRS so much that he modded his Beemer which replaced it.

So it's a beemer looking like a vRS? LMFAO! The world is full of amazing things... ;)

Q.

Starkest example of inverted badge snobbery I've ever come across!

Thumbs up to Huck...

I have to admit, when you see an Octy from a distance in your rear view mirror, it has a definite air of beemer to it.

Lights give it away when it gets closer.

I'd stick with my Xenons any day....... ;)

Not had anyone mistake my RS for a beemer.

But I've had a couple friends and collegues think it was a Saab.

I think there a definate Saab-ness about it. I guess it's the fairly large overhangs. I friend of mine has a mildly tarted 93 and likes the vRS.

Regards,

Mark

I've mistaken new polo's for my car, but IMHO, I can see a Fabia coming the other way a mile off - There is something very distinctive about the front end, perhaps the shape of the lights/grill - I'm not sure what exactly it is. The main confusion I've suffered is passengers who think its a petrol, rather than it being a different brand altogether. Its very satisfying when someone says, "It's a DIESEL?" :)
