Modified to standard

Featured Replies

As you may know I've an Fabia and Octavia vRS but my dear old mum is without a car and what with them supporting my brother at Uni she cannot really justify having a car. So I suggested donating the fabia to her to use when she needs it.

She used to drive it when I first got it and loved it up until I started to play with it and in her words "it scares me, its too fast" so it looks like I will be putting it back to standard.

Now I've two options which is put it back and keep the mods to be added at a later date or selling them. Most of the original part I still have but some I will ahve to buy like the front grill.

So the question is should I sell the mods and use that money towards the Octavia? Or keep them and in a few years time put them back and use it as a trackday/weekend toy?

How much do you think I will get on the below items

Forge FMIC

Jabba ARB

312mm Brake upgrade

Eibach full suspension

I guess it depends on how much you need/want the cash and how serious the track day toy idea is.

Personally while the Fabia is a good track toy when teamed with being an economical road car I think as a track only machine there are better/cheaper options out there.

Could you not just switch the map back to standard or try to find a switchable unit?

Given all the dealings i've had with Jabba they'd probably be understanding of your cars plight.

That also means you can leave the rest of the mods on ready for when you take ownership back and also safe in the knowledge that your mum is backed up by better handling and stopping power, and that she has a FMIC that wont benefit her at all :giggle:

theres an option 3:

give them to me to use untill you want them back ;)

i would have thought removing the handling mods seems a little unnecessary though? surely she would benifit from the better handling/braking?

Can't she just adapt and learn to press the accelerator more gently?

Can't she just adapt and learn to press the accelerator more gently?

aye you would have though so. I think the brakes and suspension will be ok left on as she will not notice this.

PastyBoy - I know there is better cars out there for the job but to be honest I'm rather attached to the old girl. I was meant to p/x her in against the Octavia but when it came down to it I just could not part with her..............which I know that probably sounds sad but hey ho!

I was thinking about a switchable unit but was unsure if it would work with jabba's remap on it. Also if the re-map was to be taken off it would help the clutch life as its still on its original clutch at 95k

I wouldnt do anything but take the map off!!...problem sorted :)

K:)

I'll swap you my brakes for your 312's and give you some £££ :D

Local too...

Dunno about Jabba but i know that Revo do maps with a Serial Port Switch which allows you to switch from the standard map and the uprated map.
