MPG - how much do you get?

Featured Replies

Whats sort of MPG do you lot get then? I'm a little suprised at only managing an average of 27 MPG over my week of Octavia ownership (2 tanks of fuel)

My mate gets 25 from his Scoobie P1 and I used to get nearly 40 out of my MK4 Astra SRi

Its a 1.8T elegance estate by the way.

Round about 35 (Octavia RS)

Hmmm.... seems I have a heavy right foot then. Mind you, my 4 mile commute probably doesnt help much.

Sorry, 43 on a long journey, early 30's local.

42 in to work, 34 out...........

Avg over last six months or more........

28.

2.0 Octavia, std. :(

Are you supposed to reset the average mpg program 1 everytime you start the engine as it starts from zero and builds up, this has a negative effect on the overall mpg on program 2. Or is are you not supposed to reset program 1 everytime you move off?

Im getting an average of 28mpg when i dont reset program 1, but get 35mpg when i do reset it.

I reset mine when I collected the car a week ago. Dont forget you have two MPG's on the trip computer. One you can store, the other is current.

Resetting it each time you start the car seems a bit pointless unless you want the average for a particular journey.

I'll probably take to resetting mine each time I fuel up.

My 4X4 has averaged 31.52mpg over 10656 miles. The average over the 4771 miles covered prior to visiting Jabba was 31.13mpg. Those figures based on fuel used and miles covered - not Trip 2 which over-reads by around 10%, just like the speedo.

68mpg on way to work from the trip computer...

58mpg on way home

49.5 average over 25k

:D

My record with an Octy Elegance TDi 110 was 72mpg - also got 700 miles on one tank of fuel!

This was on my journey to work from Maidstone to Staines in a previous career - averaging 50mph on the M25 over 63 miles. Must have been mad doing that every day!

Don't do this journey anymore, funnily enough, but now get about 32mpg with the vRS - mixed conditions. Took it to Ireland in the summer and averaged 38mpg - managed 45mpg on several occasions. Not much traffic out in the country there.

Can't believe how fuel efficient the vRS is!

On my 8 mile run to work I get around 58mpg from the Octavia and just over 60mpg from the Fabia.

The Octavia tends to average around 50mpg, the Fabia averages a bit less than that but it spends all it's time doing short trips around town.

This recent freezing weather has caused both cars to drop around 5mpg on journeys of less than 5 miles

Edited to add.....

The above are actual figures, the Fabia's fuel computer is reads about 3% higher, the Octavia's fuel computer reads about 8% high when standard and upto 20% high with the tuning box on.

I was talking to a copper about the MPG that their cars get. Apparently the Octy vRS gets upper 20's about 25-28mpg. Considerably better than the last Mondeo it replaced which was in the teens! Quite good considering the driving police have to do.

My best was 630 miles on a tank , by which point the computer had been showing 0 miles left for about 5 miles of driving.

The highest single journey was just over 70 mpg over about 80 miles.

59.5 over 1200 miles A3 M25 and around town I

My Octy vRS claims to have averaged 36.3 mpg over the last 3 months, my wallet tells me its actually doing around 32 mpg, thats a pretty substantal difference. My prevous car (PrimeraGT) told me it averaged 37.2 mpg and my wallet agreed at around 37 mpg on average. I guess Skoda's trip computers are a little on the optimistic side :)

around 40 and constantly given death. cold warm full or empty. this is the nova TD by the way.

not sure on the octavia, will update when i get it back

doesn't it reset itself? I'm sure mine resets if you don't drive the car for a few hours.

Yeah, mine resets after 2 hours without the ignition on. Would like to know the average mpg per tank of fuel rather than trip without using a calculator :o

When you are looking at the average mpg reading you will see a little No1 or No2 at the side of display.

No1 reading is the average reading of the last journey that hasn't had a two hour gap.

No2 reading is the total average since the computer was reset.

Toggle between 1 and 2 by pressing the reset button under the stalk.

Reset No2 position by pressing and holding the reset button.

22/23 MPG on the way into work sat on the M62/M602 Car Park, then 32/34 on a long motorway run, so not brilliant :( all in a Y Reg Honda Accord 2.0 VTec.

Hence one of the reasons why I have a Octy 2.0TDI Elegance on order :D

Previous Fabia 1.4 16V, 38.5 over 6000 miles

Octy 1.9TDi average 43mpg

Current Fab vRS 44mpg avearge, but in short journeys, in traffic and playing games...
