VRS Tdi - Is this a good buy?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have recently registered to this forum to find out a bit of info on the Octavia VRS.

I'm going to look at this one today, hopefully part ex my Ibiza FR tdi against it.

VRS

Does this look like a good buy to you? It doesn't look very well spec'd, but the mileage and price seem good to me.

Cheers

George

Looks like a bit of a bargain to me!

It's not really a bargain. I bought my 08 in mint condition, exactly a year ago when it was 1 year old. 21k miles, maxidot, xenons, rear parking sensors, cruise control, auto dipping mirror and tunnel lights (the exact options I wanted). Paid £12,000 and felt like I paid very slightly over the odds. I know used car prices have risen since then though. I was offered £12,500 trade-in for it with 33k miles on, swapping on March 1st this year against a new vRS on the 0% finance and vat free offers.

I wouldn't say it is a bargain, but probably just about the right and fair price.

looks good to me. get a maxidot retro fitted to it and your sorted :)

It may also be out of skoda warranty depending when it was 1st registered, so make sure you get at least a year from the dealer

Thanks for the replies guys!

I've been looking for a low mileage VRS tdi for well over a month now. This is the first 57 plate car with less than 40k to be advertised under £12k that I have come across.

By the looks of it the spec isn't great. I'm guessing, windy rear windows (Shocking), no jumbo box, maxidot or cruise control?

The main retrofits I will be after are bluetooth calling and cruise. I'm not sure whether to go for the Columbas Sat Nav or the Maxidot? What are your thoughts?

What does the maxidot actually do and what is the cost of a retro fit? Same goes for cruise retro fit costs as well?

Cheers in advance.

Makes me feel more positive that my TDi might be worth more than £12k now :) Am thinking of selling - covered less than 14,000 miles from new, has all those options the advertised one lacks...

Mmmmmmmmmm... I do like the look of the FL models, esp with the deals on offer...

Happy hunting and if I do decide to sell, I'll look you up...

Hah, Iim going to buy mine today. Yours sounds a cracking car, but I can't wait unfortunately.

Should have rear elec windows, mine does. I paid 12k for mine 5 months ago, 12,500 miles on 07.

Would be better at £11k........lack of options is the killer

Yea will got it for £11200 so still a great price. The car looks fantastic, but it is low on options and I nearly didn't buy it because of the rear windows.

Still if I don't look in the back I won't see them... lol

So retro fit jobs for me to sort first are:

Cruise Control

Maxidot

Bluetooth Handsfree

Any ideas of who can supply and fit these for sensible money?

Does someone have a pic of the jumbo box? I don't think I have one of those either?...

Sat Nav can weight, i'll use my Navman for the time being.

Cheers again

You have a jumbo box it is between seats above your handbrake

So you either have a box or not then? I.e an arm rest or nothing? There doesn't appear to be a vent to/in the box?

I've booked the car in for a P-Torque remap as well. Looking forward to removing the lag and freeing up the power.

Going for it then

Yes boss, I put a deposit on the car this afternoon, and on the remap.

I just need some help with retrofitting kit. Ben at Shark Performance looks like a possibility?!

Ben can retrofit all of those with no problem.

Excellent I'll get on to him then.

You lift the armrest and look inside their is a little black handle<a bit like a child's spade > which you pull up for air in, push down to stop air coming in . The armrest can slide forward or back and is on a ratchet so you can set it to your desired height . The glovebox can be heated / cooled in the same way --- open glovebox and look closely at the light, it has a dial surrounding it if you turn that dial it reveals a hole <a bit like on a talc shaker in principal > When hole revealed air in and vice versa  Check out this posted this morning might be usefull and cheaper

Excellent advice there, thank you very much. My lunch is going to be nice and chilled in there this summer.
