Werent they predicting only 3000 of them in the first twelve months? Im sure I remember reading that at launch, unless that was specifically UK sales and the above report is wordwide?

Yes 3000 was UK only.

Id love to know what number have been sold in the UK since launch then; compared to the predicted 3000 units!

just after new year, mine's one of the 11k

19,672 Yetis were produced in 2009 of which 11,018 were sold in 2009, they are made in the Czech Republic and Russia. This leaves the question of where are the remaining 8,654 Yetis?

They are lost in that damn forest... :giggle:

700 to the end of December, reckon it will be over 3000 for the first full year though!

Mine's from Czech Republic (Kvasiny) and I believe it's the 14,065th.

I hadnt realised some were being made in Russia? :dull:

HOw would you know what factory yours was being built in? Is it a case of asking the dealer? Mine left the factory last week, but I dont know which one! :o

I'm sure I heard somewhere that the Czech made ones are for the Western market, and the Ruski ones are staying over in the East.

Hi,

Think all UK production will be from CZ but check the VIN number as follows;

TMB = Manufacturer

4th letter = model and version (M for RHD 4x4)

5th letter = engine type (B for 1.8TSI)

6th is a number = airbag system (should be a 7 for all but E trim; UK)

7 & 8 = model (5L for Yeti)

9 is an internal code

10th another letter is the model year = A (2010), B (2011) etc

11th a number for the manufacturing plant = 6 - Kvasiny

The rest is the Monsters own chassis number

Hope that helps,

edit one other thing forgot to mention the VIN number should have a * at either end.

If you ever come across a VIN with # at either end, then that's had a new body shell i.e. ordered as a spare part :S

Regards,

TP
