Biodiesel Octavia Mk 1 1.9 130tdi

Featured Replies

After humming & hahing about trying biodiesel for long enough. I have just had my second tank of biodiesel since the weather warmed up. (Poor cold starting stopped me using it in Jan/Feb. Running was fine.

I have covered 600+ miles and so changed filter. BLACK! (£15.60 on tinternet.post free. Next day). If it takes you 10 minutes to fit you are dawdling! Just remember to fill filter with fuel to prime.

I am delighted with the cost @ £0.93 per litre against current local cost £1.18.9. per litre.

Engine is quieter. Power is just the same and so is economy. 44.5 mpg locally and 50+ on a run.

Bioflo on the Wirral is a really well equiped set up if you are anywhere near.

I keep wondering about biodiesel for my 110TDi, but I can't find a supplier locally to me - live in Weymouth, but work just north of Salisbury. There was a supplier about 5 mins down the road from work, but I think they must have gone under as they don't answer the phone or reply to emails.

Do a search like Biodiesel suppliers uk. There's a fair number listed. One site shows a map split into regions. Just click on the one for you.

I thought biodiesel was a no go on the PD130? Viscosity not right IIRC?

The listed stations near me appear to be suppliers selling the kit to make your own bio diesel. I would rather buy it from a pump as I don't trust my own chemistry skill!

yup vw say a big NO to bio in a PD engine and you would have to do some serios miles to save enough money on fuel to pay for 4 new injectors.

have seen a few pics of PD's with burnt pistons too from running it.

the non pd's quite like it tho

Same here, but there is nothing useful in either Wiltshire or Dorset! With delivery at £1/mile return I would have to buy and store a lot at home to make it worthwhile I suspect :-(

There is a bio diesel supplier near here but I was under the impression that several "mods" had to be made in order to use this stuff. I kept an old cutting from local paper that reported on expensive engine damage caused by using "bio". The article suggested potential users contact the vehicle manufacturer and ask if "there vehicle will run on EN 14214 and assume that any bio-diesel sold from a pump that is not marked as EN 14214 does not comply with the standard"

the biodiesel is corrosive for rubber and plastic, the pipe lines

the damages will appear in 3-4 years.

be careful!

good luck!
