Front Wheel Bearing Help.

Featured Replies

Doing my front wheel bearing today got to the point of removing the CV joint out the centre -seized solid, I have tried heating it up - no joy, Using 200 lbs on a press -still no joy.

Does anyone know how to remove the CV joint.

Thanks in advance

Anyone???

If you mean the driveshaft spline is seized into the hub, prepare to buy a new outer CV joint. The joint itself is tapped off the shaft with a plastic faced mallet. When they seize into the hub, they seldom come out without wrecking the splines.

yes the driveshaft spline is seized on the hub. not too bad that I have to buy a CV joint, still unable to seperate them.

Finally managed to get them seperated, Heating the hub up till its red hot, cooling it down with water - done this 3 times and then to the hydraulic press- Woo hoo success.

Still need to buy a new CV joint and a hub carrier as under the pressure of the hydraulic press the caliper carrier (all in one type with hub carrier) has been twisted so the brake disc will not fit.

Oh the joys
