Damp rear passanger footwell help

Featured Replies

The rear passanger side footwell is very wet on my fabia vrs 54 plate. Checked the seals on all doors cant see any problems, has anyone had this problem and could help??

Has cropped up on here a good few times. It's either the door carrier seal leaking plenty of other posts on this. I think the way to check for this is to squeeze the door card in at the bottom of the door and feel for any water. See http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/96959-diy-door-sealing-tutorial-costs-less-than-l10/ Another possibility is the washer pipe has popped off behind the trim, again has popped up in a few posts.

cheers ill have a look around.

Hey James

Just bought an )4 fabia vrs and same thing was happening to me. Was having timing belt done so told dealer to fix whilst in. They made a balls of it and made it worse. Basically all you need to do is take the door cards off and silicon around the window carriers and mine is now bone dry.

To see how to do it there is a handy "how to" guide on youtube. Just type in leaking fabia door and it should come up.

Good luck with it and it is a fairly simple job so you can have it done in an hour (both sides will need to be done).

Cheers

JAL

Damp rear footwellsae a very common fault on Fabias. I had mine fixed under warranty a few years ago, but it looks like it is leaking again. I think in summer I will have to have a go myself to fix it.

There is another useful guide on this site. Fabia-vrs.com - Door Carrier Repair As mentioned above, a Briskodian has done a YouTube video about it.

Is it only damp rear footwells? Mine has got damp in the front as well - could this be a different problem? Thanks (concerned new owner)

no its the same issue, its because of the door design! Water runs down the window, through the door internals and out the bottom, it leaks where the carrier fits to the door and ends up in the footwell, what you need to do is undo the screws at the bottom of the plastic door and run some sealent (read the guide just incase) along the join to stop it from going in the footwell.

I understand that vag doors have now been redesigned to stop it although ive also been told the new design is a pain in the arse for various reasons.
