How to fit a Cupra PD160 airbox inlet pipe new Article

Featured Replies

Excellent article chavy.

Do you know if the same operation is possible in the Octy range, i.e. 1.8vRS inlet pipe into a 110bhp TDI?

Also, very good photos, beats Haynes any day.

Cheers guys.

CMCM not sure mate, I only found this mod out as it was talked about alot.

CMCM might be worth having a look on cupranet, see if anyone on there might know, they are a nice bunch of lads and lasses (being pc there). Failing that have a look under your bonnet and then under the model in question i.e. Octi diesel 1.9tdi have a look at the cupra leon and so fourth. Just an idea so dont blame with if it doesn't pan out lol

Cheers Mike, will do that.

Good Howto Ivan' date='

Did you throw away the old inlet pipe and front trumpet or will you sell em for spares?

Ian[/quote']

Nope still got em, if you are thinking what I am thinking what car do you have as these might not fit ? I can measure up the pipe etc if you want.

I've got a Fabia 1.4 16V - mine broke quite badly when I was working on the nearside headlamp and is in danger of falling apart completely! The front trumpet and first part of the pipe that is not my headlamp. :o

If you can get a measurement of the diameter of the pipe I will have a look at the one I have and I will get back to you with it's measurement.

Ordered my pipe's today from Seat and was told i can collect them tomorrow morning, i think ill call them first before i trapse to edinburgh tho.

Hmmm. If I wasn't so busy up in N.Wales this weekend, I'd have been tempted to get these bits... I think a phone call tomorrow is in order. :D

Very nice quide, nice and simple and nice clear pictures, Well done and thank you

On another note though, what performance gains have you seen from using this and a filter? is it worth the 80 quid ish total cost?

no I mean around 80 quid once you have bought a green air filter as well. Sorry should have worded the message better

I think just the fact your engine can breathe that little bit more extra is worth

Phew... :D I already have the green filter corner covered. ;)

Have to agree. Apart from a slightly gruffer induction noise, I can't detect any change in performance on my (standard) vRS. Unless you've been remapped,[/b'] I'd recommend keeping the 30 quid in your pocket rather than the SEAT dealer's.

;):D
