vRS hate

Featured Replies

I think everyone gets it, not just Fabia drivers, or Skoda drivers for that matter. More often than not, the other person is just in a hurry to get somewhere and sees your car as nothing more than an obsticle, which once passed, will never be thought of again.

Seriously guys, don't let it hurt your pride. You'll always get drivers who disregard safety, but joining them isn't going to make the situation any better!

As for the stereotype of young drivers, it's always something I've resented. As far as I can tell, it matters not how old you are, I see examples of dreadful driving most days. I've never really noticed that it's more often younger drivers than more mature ones. I believe it to be an excuse or scapegoat, for said more mature drivers to simply place the blame without having to mention anything more.

At the end of the day its all about having "fun" in the right place at the right time. (road conditions, traffic, visibility etc)

And without inconveniencing other motorists.

....

If everyone abided to these few simple rules the roads would be a safer place.

As a confirmed old fart (who's been driving ~30 years) I absolutely agree with the above. Driving is fun in the right circumstances, but it's up to you to make allowances for conditions and the ehem.. "differently abled", who are just trying to get from A to B. In my experience there are very few actual psychos on the road, but far too many who concentrate on precisely anything but their driving.

I've got access to 2 vehicles, the vRS and a large ish extremely fast saloon. The difference when driving them is quite amusing, especially on the motorway for some reason. The zero concentration crowd are exactly the same, usually a Mercedes or equivalent drifting along in the outside lane without a care in the world. Golfs, 1 and 3 series BMWs often hate being overtaken by the vRS (which is usually on cruise control), but don't mind a bit when the big car ploughs past at exactly the same speed. There's definitely a status thing going on there but I don't think it's the Fabia per-se, just a "small car" (which brings my meandering back on-topic).

In my 20 years of driving i think its more common now than ever as there are more cars on the road and faster 'standard' cars.

I have never had a problem apart from Impreza and BMW drivers coming up to my bumper, trying to edge me on, i just let them pass and get a fine haha.

Only time i have had a some sort of hate was 3 chavs in a corsa shouting something i couldnt make out but i got the tone of their sentiment. I was sitting in a queue of traffic.

I thought it was funny!

This thread is bound to be controversial, anything with FABIA and HATE in the title would be !
