Octy 2.0TDi Elegance Build Confirmed

Featured Replies

Well spoke to my dealer and at last the build week on my Octy 2.0TDi Elegance is confirmed and is scheduled for this week, he also stated that delivery times are currently three weeks from build completion so with any luck should have it before Chrimbo :D

I have stated that it it slips passed Chrimbo, I don't want it until start of Jan 05, as it then an 05 Registered Model and future part ex should be more plus I don't need Road Tax for December.

Dealer is desperate to get it in this years figures, plus the mileage on my Honda Accord on a guaranteed part ex is rising rapidly put 7K on it since I ordered my Octy in September and likely to be 10K plus by the time I trade it in.

So hopefully before Chrimbo I can be a fully paid up Briskodian and own one as well ;)

Just heard from my dealer, that the Car was built and dispatched from the Factory on Tuesday and is currently on a Train to the port for shipment over here. :D

Couldn't believe it only takes 4 hours to build the car from Scratch assuming chasis and painted bodywork, just have to add the UK Spec, Interior, Trim Level, Engine, Wheels etc.

Well impressed with the dealers tracking system has numerous points confirming everything from order confirmed, build scheduled, build confirmed, build complete, dispatched from factory, arrived in port, on ship, in destination port, cleared customes, arrived at dealer and with me :D

Looking at week of 14/12 for delivery :D

Well the Car has finally arrived at the Dealers yesterday, and I can collect next week from Wednesday onwards, but happen to be working away and not home until Saturday, so have to wait a little bit longer.

So I will finally get my Octy on 18th December after ordering it on 6th September

Rediculous really. A couple of weeks ago my dealer promissed to have delivery of a 1.9TDi Octy Ambient before Christmas if I ordered there and then. (I was not interested it was when I returned my 24hr test drive car).

Why the thirsty 2.0 TDi when the 1.9 is so much more economical, and remains more economical even when tuned up?

Because it's a brand new engine, lower emmissions and more powerful than the 1.9 and supposedly quieter as well, longer service intevals

Being brand new is probably less reliable as well. The 1.9 is tried and tested. I really can not see the point of the 2.0 TDi when its mpg are only similar to cheaper and quieter petrol options.

The 2.0 still does 48mpg according to the figures which is better than any petrol models.

As for the 1.9 being just as good when remapped , that involves giving up your warranty and paying more for insurance than a standard 2.0 tdi

Steve,

Enjoy the new car. Anyone trying to put a dampener on your new toy is almost certainly jealous ;)

Yes I am jealous, I have wanted an Octy 2 since I first sat in one. Stuck with another 2 years of payments on the vRS :(.

2.0 tdi is Euro4 emissions compliant so it's liable for far less company car tax than the 1.9

Having driven quite a few A5 Octavia 2.0 TDi's now i'd love one, especially Elegance spec, very jealous indeed :)

Look great with the 17" wheels on them.

Well I'm happy with my choice, going up to the Dealers this PM to drop off my Nokia Car Kit for it to be fitted and to have a look over the Car :D just to make sure it is there after all this time and is to the Spec I ordered. Which I am told it is but nothing like seeing it with your own eyes.

Went for the 2.0TDi 140 as IIRC the 1.9 TDi is the older 110 engine, and I had previously driven the Passat 1.9 TDi 130 which was quick, and didn't want to drop down to the older engine still. OK yes I could get a 110 remapped but insurance warranty issues etc, so I'm leaving as stock. As it's the only Car for the family and I have to use it for my work as a Company Car it needs to be reliable and offer good MPG and 48MPG is a over double what I was getting from my Honda, and on my daily run to work and back 160 Miles I hope to break the 50MPG barrier.

the 1.9 TDi is a 105 bhp PD engine.

Well been to see the Car today and drop of my Nokia Car Kit for fitting only have about 10 mins in the back of the dealers but I'm even more impressed now

Hit the unlock button on the keyfob and the Xenons come on as well as the indicators flashing, wow are they bright, no problems knowing which was my car out of the bunch of Octys.

Had a quick look around the Car, impressed that Mudflaps & Mats come as standard extra on me Honda. The rear sunblind is excellent nice little touch.

Now the Soundsystem, Multi-Dot & Multi Function Steering Wheel are superb, 12 Speakers  and do they sound good or what. The Audience MP3 Player is superb as well, with a six disc multichanger built in to the dash. Big LCD Display, gives you the Artist, Track Name and Album all on screen at once and with 6 Disc MP3 Player that is a serious amount of music online.

Roll on next Saturday afternoon when I can collect the vehicle. :D Think it's going to be a long week  well I've waited 14 weeks so far so one more week shouldn't be too long.

Specced a fair few options then!

Just a few :)

Forgot one optional extra :( , that applies to all new cars to quote my mate on Thursday Night. The indicators ;)

Well the day has finally arrived, after 3 Months 1 Week and 5 Days I am off to collect my new Octy this morning :D

Good luck and enjoy, I intend to follow suit with a well specced Octy 2L elegance soon

Well I now have it and I'm well impressed, better than I remember

Just need to wade through the manual to find all the bits & pieces I may miss from just playing with the car & controls.

The Audience Sound System with the 12 Speakers is superb, also gives you loads of MP3 Info on Scrren at once just need to suss out how to have that as the default display. Another very hany think is that you can set it to record Traffic Announcements, so you can list to the News fav track then replay the Traffic Info just received.

Well Steve, have you got it yet ? And is it good ???

Edit, obvously the answers are Yes and Yes :D

Have fun !
