I've installed Road Trip Lite on my iPhone and noticed that you must first enter your tank capacity. Now we all know the tank capacity is more than stated in the manual if you vent the tank.

I can get over 50 litres in my tank with about 20 - 30 miles showing left on the computer. Others seem to be able to get more than that!!!

Anyone else using Road Trip Lite? And how did you initially set it up.

ps I did a search for iPhone using titles only and apparently there are no threads with iPhone in the title :S

Run your tank down as empty as you dare, and then fill it up to as high as you dare (full or brimmed). This capacity is your theoretical tank capacity.

My Mazda is supposed to have a 55l tank, but never managed to get more than 48l, so thats what I put as my capacity.

I installed full fat road trip yesterday with a view to it replacing my Spritmonitor account, I'll see how I get on with it.

Thanks for that. looking at it again I think the tank capacity is only on the full version.

Yup, definitely only on the full as I have the lite and it works fine for me. In fact I only need the lite version. I have done all the fill ups since owning the car. My wife did the first one though so I missed out, but its interesting as it tells you your overall mileage and how many liters you have put in

Does roadtrip allow you to enter details for more than one car??? I use Spritmonitor for both our cars so if i move away from it i need something on the iphone that can also handle fuelings for more than one car etc....

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the full blown version does.

So to make it as accurate as possible what does the tank hold when vented then?

I dont think you have to fill it to the top, surely is just mile per gallon so as long as you fill the tank the calculations should still work

yeah i know on spritmonitor.de you never had to put in the capacity of the tank.

It should be working out your mpg by how many miles you did since the last fill up and how much you then needed to put in to fill it again. As long as you fill it each time you'll get the mpg ok.

Anyhow i've just gone through my last three years of spritmonitor data and found the most i have ever put in my tank is 56.36 litres...... That is using the vent method.

The capacity is used to give an indication of available range :)
