Fabia electric front windows

Featured Replies

Would anyone have a circuit diagram for a 2007 Fabia 1.9tdi front electric windows. I keep having window failure although the door lock switch on the same door switch panel , is ok. Switch unit seems ok when tested with a meter so I am now wondering if there is a seperate power input to the switches just for the windows. The fuses seem ok . Thanks

The windows are controlled by a can bus system which sends control signals from the switches to the convenience control system, which then routes power to the windows as appropriate. The switch internals are similar to a TV remote, and can be taken apart and cleaned. Alternatively remove the fuse for the windows, re insert after a minute or so, reset the one touch and see what happens. Failing that start working your way through multi plugs, try 'A' pillar first as it's the easiest to get to, then motor etc.

Thanks. have cleaned switch as you suggested but must be power feed break somewhere as you imply. Will have a look.

I also tried cleaning the switch with meths but finished up CAREFULLY rubbing the little rubber contact pads with a piece of emery cloth. I only did a few rubs, there isn't much material to play with. Having said that, I don't think a new switch would break the bank.

Took both fuses out as you suggested, left out for about 1 hour. When i replaced them the windows worked but only lasted a couple of minutes?? Have put a meter into the fuse connections and they are both live so must be a fault in whatever the fuses feed??? Would you have any more info. please. Much obliged for your response.

Maybe a silly question, but you are keeping the ignition switched on? The windows will work for a couple of minutes after it's switched off. Could also be worth seeing if any fault codes show up. If you don't know anyone locally with vag com it's either a trip to the stealer or buy a fault code reader. If it's a fault on the convenience control module then it will be expensive I'm afraid, but afaik they are pretty reliable. Have you tried a search?

If a wiring diagram is still needed, I can get one from the Haynes up tomorrow. If you could let me know either way I'd be grateful.

Nothing else I can add that hasn't been said already.

Thanks. I will have to have a look around. I have also complained to Skoda as the car is 2 weeks out of warranty.
