standard clutch tolerances

Featured Replies

Hey

Was wondering what the maximum torque(lb/ft) and bhp is for the standard clutch in a fabia vrs, been quoted several different figures mainly between 310 - 350 torque and around 200bhp

Thanks guys

usually the most really being clutch friendly is about 180bhp and 300lbs

any amount of bhp,but stay under 300 ft lbs,my clutch was proper cooked the first time i put my foot down with 346ft lbs,and it had only done 2500 miles so was still brand new

People will say they have more torque etc, but even if they do (dont go there) they will not be using it on the standard clutch... remember peak torque is normally around 2,000-2,400rpm so to have ya foot down at those revs will melt a clutch sooner or later with even standard torque. As a rule of thumb, 300lb.ft seems to be the prefered amount to run on the standard item. However it really does depend on if you want to use the peak torque to make yourself go back in the seat or not. If you dont, then your best off looking at what sort of torque the car has at 3,000, 3,500 and 4,000rpm and going for gold at them revs ;)

Driver it well, and as it should be, not booting it in high gears at low reves etc will help no end!
