Water Coming Into Boot.

Featured Replies

Hi all, i am a new owner of a skoda octavia Vrs 2010 and i just wondered if anyone has the same problem as me. Everytime it rains and i go to open the tailgate i get a boot full of rainwater which then goes all over the items in the boot just below the struts. I have spoken to the dealers and they say that is how the tailgate is designed and its just one of those things. If so i feel its a poor design, having a few cars with tailgates i have never really had that problem before, and its the only thing that puts me off this beautiful machine

I also wonder do the latest octavias have bonnet insulation that fits onto the bonnet in the engine compartment, because my car does not have any on and its just the bonnet???

Try opening the boot just a little first, and all the water will run off, then open the rest of the way, hope that helps!

Hi i have done that but its still the same. Read on here and its a common problem it seems same as when you open door water drips onto the seats and door panels :(

Well sealed and waxed tailgate will make the water run off quicker

Tip: Open it very slowly.

Not had a major problem.

I think it is only the CR diesel engines that come with the underbonnet insulation - so I'm just guessing you have a petrol engine. At least you can buy it and fit it yourself I imagine. Hope that helps.

it happened my old 2007 vRS saloon, i got the dealer to re seat the boot fittings and I never got a drop again.

As yours is new go straight back to them.

I have new FL too which suffers same problem, because of the boot shape it will always happen... not environmentally PC I know but maybe pick up an extra bag from the supermarket if its raining and stick on your head!

My Mk1 had same problem.

However the car is perfect in all other ways so im happy to put up with this minor irritation.

Mine has no engine insulation on bonnet.... standard I think..... engine noise not an issue.

Both my Mk 1 and prefacelifted Mk2 suffer the same problem. As others have suggested opening it slowly does seem to improve the situation.

I got the bonnet insulation on my petrol as it just looked unfinished without. Part nos are available on here and it is literally the easiest thing in the world to fit.

the boot is a little bit of a pian but my r26 f1 megane was exactly the same
