What does the ABS & the ASR light on the dash mean if they dont go off within a few seconds of starting the car?

I take it you mean other than if the OFF button on the centre consul has not been pushed??

yeah - I mean other than that!

When i get in the car and out the key in the ignition to start the car the heater plugs light goes off, I start the engine and the ABS & ASR light stays on.

I would suspect that it would indicate a fault with the wheel sensors that control both the ABS and ASR. I would have thought that the manual ought to have more information.

If I turn the car off wait a few seconds then turn it back on again the lights go off!

It means a trip to the dealer to get the fault codes read :thumbup:

If the car otherwise works, you could always take the bulbs out :giggle:

Hummmmm, you`ll prob not know something isnt working correctly till you need to to avoid a crash tho.

Ok - been to a mates garage that has VAGCOM to read the codes - says its in intermitant ABS controller fault?? He says they are about £1000 from the main dealer???????????????????????????
