Two P buttons. What does the 2nd one do?

I've seen both these buttons on Park Assist cars and might just be blind when reading the manual but what does the right hand one do? The left one with the steering wheel on is the Park Assist but what is the other? It looks like something to do with the parking sensors?

You can turn on or off the front parking sensors manually if need be.

I'm guessing here as my Yeti is on a ship! But I reckon it turns on the front parking sensors???

Simon

At a guess it turns off the sensors and or bleeping.

Reversing in long grass for example would make the system bleep as though you were going to hit someone.

Or with a tow bar mounted bike rack - same thing... Yeti will think your going to reverse into something.

Ah ok. That makes sense. So all Elegance models should have this button to disable the rear parking sensors? And when you have the optional front ones and/or Park Assist this button will also disable them I'd imagine.

What he said! ;) Front sensor control - on or off.

Hi,

unfortunately you cannot disable the rear sensors, the switch is just for the operation of the front sensors only. Comes standard with the park assist option or obliviously the front sensor option (this only has 4 front sensors fitted as opposed to park assists 6).

OK all makes sense now. B)

I don't very much like the 3rd pair of eyes that come with the Park Assist as they sit on the fender like that, but hey ho, got them anyway. They look like the side facing cameras on a 7 or 5 series BMW. [so you can pull your nose into a junction to see left and right even though your own eyes might still be hidden behind a hedge. Neat.]

Pushing this button turn off both my front and rear sensors, I used it when I had a trailer on the back

...front and back sensors off on mine also!

Interesting :wonder: the handbook indicates you press the button to turn the sensors on (switch iluminates) not off, even with a trailer installation (although it does state a factory installation) (also states with a factory installation only the front sensors work when a trailer is connected).

Factory tow bar with towing electrics should disable the rear sensors as soon as you connect the trailer electrics... does on my Discovery.

Also, driving off road with front and rear parking sensors going off all the time due to long grass etc, would be a pain in the proverbial.

So (not having a Yeti) I assumed this is a parking sensor (all) disable button. Likely it resets after engine off.

We've got the rear parking sensors only, and don't have the button. Since the rear sensors only become active when reverse gear is engaged, I can't imagine a situation where I would want to turn them off.

What?! You've never green laned up a mountain through tall grass in reverse gear?! Shame on you!!!

from "Tow Bar Costs again" thread:

OK... so we have NO Park Assist therefore no button to disable those little bleepers that way...

and as we are English and do not have (presumably)? continental wiring in the bike or any other trailer the clever little 12th pin on the 13 pin socket does NOT turn off the rear sensors...

BUT according to Terfyns quoting from manual instructions B) ...it would do... IF WE HAD HAD THE FACTORY TOW BAR PREP  :S

Can the problem of the rear sensors beeping in reverse with a trailer attached on a NON factory prepped towbar installation and in a Yeti WITHOUT Park Assist really not be sorted out???

somehow??? GGGGRRR

Can't the ECU be programmed retrospectively to recognize this 12th pin function on th 13pin socket....GGGRRRRRR[/color] :'(

Got to drive my dads Superb II today which has park assist, I now understand how the front and rear sensors work together. :)

Select reverse then both front and rear sensors are activated automatically (which illuminates the switch), if you don't want them then press the button to cancel. If in first gear for front sensors then press the switch to turn on.

My switch cancels front and rear sensors when they are already on, ie having had reverse selected.

Also it switches both front and rear on when pressed (when they were off!). I know this as I sometimes put them on when going (forwards) down a very narrow alleyway at my flats. Bleeps come from the front or the back of the SM depending on which sensor has sensed something and they make a different tone of bleep.

Arghh - brain ache - this is getting very complicated. I was wondering about this one and you've saved me the testing. Like the key fob testing. Took me a while to work out how to unlock the kids doors(press twice!) and the boot and then also how to lock the kids in without them setting off the alarm. Don't really like having to resort to reading the instruction manual but my new car has so many features it's getting me frazzled trying to remember them all. I've never been able to play a CD in my car before and now I have a choice of six! I've calibrated the iPhone and other mobile and can play the kids iPhones through the car speakers. My most satisfying was turning off the annoying beep everytime you press anything on the screen. Also showed the kids the little lock switch can open the doors from inside in an emergency and if you press it down will open windows if it's too hot. Handy for when I nip into the Post Office (with them in view of course!).

When we went travelling all the 'poorer' countries had old Corollas etc. that had been presumably been brought over from Western countries. What is the future for them will a car like a Yeti? It is so computerised.

OR those countries will play catch up into industrialization and move into the 21st century at break neck speed and leave us "world leaders" behind...

I have these two buttons on my superb, all be it in a different place.

The first one with the steering wheel activates the "Park Assist" function where the car can parralel park all by itself,

The second one is only present if you have front parking sensors, and allows you to turn both front and rear sensors off. For example when I park in my garage all I get when I enter the garage is constant beeping from both front and rear sensors due to the proximity of the walls. I press this button and I get nice silence and can park the car in peace.
