Wing replacement

Featured Replies

Got a lovely scratch this morning on the wing of my red vrs thanks to what I rekon was a cat. It definatly won't polish out and it way to long to touch up.

I'm not a fan of smart repairs and can't afford a body shop to fix it ATM so I was wondering if the fitting of a replacement wing is Do-able.

They are bolt on as far as I'm aware which would meanit is just a case of trying to find a decent one.

its not that hard, ive just taken my passenger side off after an accident and im trying to get a red one to replace it, if not i'm going to get a new one sprayed up. Its just bolted on, they spray some protective stuff on the underside, you will have to run a stanley knife along the side where the door is. The clips on the bumper are a bit tricky but the bumper is pretty flexible! If you do it dont forget to remove all the bolts, including the one under the black trim below the windscreen ;)

Many thanks for that mike. Now just to find one!!! If you find a driver side one in the red the VRS comes in will you point me in the right direction please?

By the time you source a mint red wing, which may have aged slightly different to your red, and fitted it you would probably be just as cheap and loads less hassle just taking it to the bodyshop and getting it blended in. JMTPW

yeah will do, if you find the passenger side let me know, we could do with a rear ended fabia, ohh try jonnyintegrale, he sold me the red passanger doors of a 2005 vrs so may have

TBH hassle is not an issue as I have plenty of time to fit one if I can get hold of a decent one. If I give it to a bodyshop then I am almost garunteed issues as i'm OCD about detailing and the slightest thing and it'll get rejected and I just can do without that! not to mention there lack luster attempts at using polishes correctly meaning i'll almost certainly end up with a car that'll need 3 days paint correction again to get it looking how i want it!

Providing I can find one the right age then given a good polish I rekon it'll match and if it doesnt I'll be maybe £30 out of pocket compared to hundreds to getting a body shop to sort it

Use a decent bodyshop then, they do exist and in time old tradition you get what you pay for, I am a bit of a pedant with paint and have had a front bumper fitted recently and it is a stunning job! All comes from good local reputation.

Not being funny mate, but I'm not so sure a cat could scratch your car so badly that it couldn't be polished out, unless it was some sort of nijitsu studying moggy with claws of steel... You might be surprised what a decent body shop can do buddy - some scuzzbucket (definitely not of the feline variety) put a lovely scratch along the length of my old black vRS - got a friend of my dad who owns a bodyshop to repair it - he said that with a bit of work, he was able to polish it out and only charged me £40.

Well lets put it this way. I had paw prints on the bonnet including lines of scratches and then the deep scratch down the side of the wind vertical also has parallel to it faint scratches. It wasnt there when I left to do the horses in the morning and when i returned 45 mins later it was. Unless someone let there dog run across it then my money is on a cat!

Also the deep scratch can be felt with your fingernail and is down to the white primer.
