We Came, We Saw, We Read The Manual, We Left....

Featured Replies

Just a quick cover of last nights mini meet......

After experiencing the best exit junction yet, I went the wrong way on the A34 and had to turn around...... so made it a little late to find three owners making tesco's carpark look untidy. Various dodgy exchanges were done as usual :D After sending our scottish contingent off to get fuel (in true northern style, he had got every last mile from his tank of vapours) and loudly proclaiming "and to think that TT is basically the same as ours" loud enough to upset the locals, we set off in search of the countryside.

After dodging the local mercs and X5's, we came across some beautiful roads, which everyone and their dog wanted to be out enjoying!

After upsetting a Tigra owner (well he was pushing, so I held him back then left him cursing me by catching up the crew in the way only a skoda can) we came across a pretty little pub by a cricket ground, and the traditional photo session began, while Brian showed us the benefits of his "all systems go" diagnostics tool.

As expected, my car is showing the same errors that it had before the throttle body was replaced, so we cleared those to see if things helped, and Brian took me through the diagnostic functions - it's a very comprehensive tool with far better display and information than the 1552 unit.

Brian informed me of the availability of options, such as unlocking the drivers door only on the first lock, that can be enabled, but this failed to work on my car for some reason.

We retired to the pub while Brian pondered over the manual ;)

and then, after discussing all topics under the sun, the sun faded, so we headed home, down some nice (emptier!) roads courtesy of SPC, before joining the M60 and consequently going our various ways....

Good to see you guys....

Yet again it was good to meet you guys. I see Ian has put his technology to good use with some images, with any luck those are the only images of the evening. I think we managed to spot every "safety camera???" on the route, even those tricky ones around Glossop which are painted green and hidden in hedgerows!

Look forward to the next one

 Paul

That was a top route back Paul! Much better than the A6 would've been, and

probably quicker... :D

Ian isn't there a law about using mobile phones when driving, even for taking

photos? :p

Rob.

The yellow one, is that a real taxi?

  • Author

yup.

..... you see the Scots get a better class of taxi  Its Brian's (BAAHEED) - see manny's gallery for more photies.

Unless I'm mistaken he's plying for hire and reversing down the middle lane of a motorway? Or is it all an optical illusion?

The pic of Baaheeds taxi 'on the move' has a definate air of 'Getaway in Stockholm' about it!

Now the big question

Did Brian find the answer in the manual?

Where does he work ? I would love to hire a vrs rather than the usual cruddy nissans etc. :)

Yep - I finally got to see the joined up film Getaway in Stockholnm III. Thought it was most amusing, especially where the jet-ski soaked the people sitting on the jetty  and the people in that small blue boat

Its the tunnel in that piccie isn't it, that makes it look getaway'esque? Perhaps a vRS Getaway in Manchester is on the cards?

Or a Fast and Furious 4(x4): The Amsterdam Connection? :D

(BTW: has 2 Fast 2 Furious opened in the UK yet?)

He is indeed - another Scot as well - have a look at the profile for Baaheed and that might explain more - up Angus direction from memory

Err - I haven't heard about the fast & furious sequel yet. I'll have a quick look on the www and edit this post if I find anything. :)

edit: It seems UK release is 20th June - Only a couple of weeks though.

About 70 miles up from you. Kirriemuir IIRC

Kirriemuir indeed - here's the company website .

I think it's the relatively low quality of the image that makes it

look more GIS - that's not actually a tunnel, it's just a motorway

bridge with some lights after it and a car's headlights blurred to

the right of it in the image :D

I've seen posters for 2 Fast 2 Furious but didn't take any notice

of when it was released, as I think it's irresponsible and gives

people bad ideas...

rob.

By bad ideas , i take it you mean the 'gay' graphics that they plaster the cars with , thereby totally ruining them? :)

Along with loading a "tuned" street race car with a job lot of stereo equipment,

fitting nitrous, fitting big neons to 3 identical black cars when doing a series of robberies,

and other general such muppetous things.

Oh, and taking an undercover police officer into your inner circle...

Rob.

Rob

You forgot the HKS turbo kits the Civics had! ;)

It was a dark room, for some reason I only remember the

beginning and end...

:D

Rob.

Dude , you missed the babes!

Hehe...I take it they weren't anything like the girls who hang around "street racers" in the

McDonalds/Halfords car park? ;)

Rob.

You got that right dude!

Just logged on for the first time since getting home and boy does my car look the biz... nice photo Ian no wonder I attract so much attention from the plodmiesters with such a schweeeet looking motor.
