Fabia vrs steering fault

Featured Replies

Hiya guys , could do with some advice. My sister has bought a 53-plate fabia vrs and the steering keeps locking up.

Car has full service history and appears to be in very good condition. The fault seems to happen first thing in the morning and or when

its very cold. Does anybody have any suggestions/solutions??

Is this a safety issue/compulsoy repair issue? Should skoda uk be sorting this free of charge even though car is not in warranty?

Your help is appreciated.

I assume you mean the steering goes heavy? If so it will be the PAS system not working properly. This can be in order of most likely.

1: Faulty battery

2: Steering angle sensor

3: Corrosion on PAS pump plugs

4: PAS unit itself

5: Leaking steering rack

A fault code scan may indicate the actual faulty component.

Cheers for the info MoggyTech, i'll look into these. Yes, the steering goes very heavy, almost so that you can't turn the wheels at all.
