Looking under the bonnet I see that the normal cannister type oil filter is not used on the vRS. I can see what I believe is the oil filter housing (based on the position of it), which looks like cast aluminuim, is square and has cooling fins on it. This may not be it, I'm just guessing.

Does anyone know how to change the element, and given what looks like limited space, what shape arms do you require, and how many hands/fingers do you need on each arm?

The engine oil filter is under the engine cover at the top. Remove the cover and there is a black plastic cap with a 36mm nut on the top of it. Undo this and withdraw the paper element.

The with that back in get underneath, remove the undertray. 19mm bolt on bottom of the sump, remove that, drain oil, replace bung with a new one, tighten to 20nm iirc and jobs a good'un.

Engine cover pulls up at the front and pulls forward. (No clips or screws).

The undertray is held on by T25 Torx screws all the way around it and slotted in at the front edge.
