Alloy Spacer HELP!

Featured Replies

hi,

i have just recently bought a fabia 2000 and i took my car to kwik-fit to get my 15 inch AEZ alloys on and I was told i need spacers in order for them to fit. could anyone please help me on which size i need to buy. My tires are 195/50 R and alloys are 15 inches. any help is much appreciated. thanks

What is the ET of the wheel?

Should fit straight on surely?

Did they say what its catching on?

Some aftermarket wheels have quite a large centre bore and then have spigot rings to fit properly on the hub. If you bought the wheels secondhand maybe they have spigot rings fitted with a smaller bore than your Furby which is why they won't fit. If that's the case go to an alloy wheel shop and swap the spigot rings out for the correct ones for your car.

A picture of the alloys would be a good idea

Look on the inside of the wheel there should be some numbers et38 for example, we need some details, my balls are hairy not crystal

All the information on the inside of the wheel was:

6 1/2 Jx15hz

LK100

ET 40

any help is deeply appreciated!

From that information it looks ike the whels have the correct PCD (5x100) and an offest of 40 that should not need spacers (standard Fabia vRS wheels are ET38). The only things I can think of that would stop these from fitting is that the centre bore is too small for the hub (perhaps you could measure that?) or that the design of the wheel means the spokes are fouling the brake calipers.

Have you tried fiting one of these wheels yourself? If you haven't give it a try and then you should be able to see what the problem is.

yup what were the wheels off?

centre bore or fouling the calipers will be your issue!

what EXACTLY did the garage say?

I did suggest a couple of things for you to look at three posts ago, but maybe you didn't take any notice 'cos I'm a girl???!!!! :giggle::giggle::giggle:

if your brakes are standard its got to be the centre bore is smaller....get a dremel asap

if the center bore is too small, what is the best way to resolve? spacers?

thanks

The offset of your wheels is right for your car, so you don't really want to be using spacers and longer bolts because you'll push the wheels out too far in the arches and put undue srain on the wheel bearings and the bolts. The proper way to deal with it is to take the wheels to an engineering firm and have the centre bores machined out to the correct size for your car. To be honest with you you'd probably be better off selling your wheels and buying a set that fit your car.

If the center bore is too small and you fit spacers, you are changing the design from hub-centric to lug-centric. Extremely dangerous, as the wheel bolts are designed for hub-centric loads.

Measure inside diameter of original wheel (maybe spare wheel) and alloy wheel centre, you wish to fit, as a comparision.

Wheel centre (as previous members have clearly pointed out) must fully sit on centre hub, for anything else, it will probably fail with dire consequences.
