I was wondering if anybody has tried Chip Fat in their Fabia VRS, A bloke at work runs his Vauxhall on 50/50 and says he's never had a problem. Just been looking on U Tube and it says all Diesls run okay as they where designed to run on Nut Oil. If you do not wish to admit in the Board, [email protected] I'm just looking to see if I dare try it. He informed me it works out at 60p a litre.

Not sure if it agrees with the injectors... someone will clarify!

If he has a common rail (CDTI) he is lying to you. They don't like Bio above about 25%, veg oil will be even less due to the viscosity and general chemical make up of it

Proof if you beleive eveything on the internet you could get yourself into trouble. Yes the first diesels were made to run on "nut oil" ...over 100 years ago :rofl: however your modern day PD/CR engines are far removed from that and it's really not that simple.

Do a search and you will find enough info on it to make your head spin.

I think the biggest problem you face is it setting in the tank and engine.

A friend of mine has a Merc Vento fully converted with 2 tanks, the Soya bean oil (cheapest, apparently) goes in the original tank and then theres a smaller tank behind the drivers seat for normal diesel.

A switch on the dash changes which fuel is used and apparently this is because you have to start and stop the engine on normal diesel to avoid it all clogging things up.

This obviously has nothing to do with the Furby, but it seemed relevant.

On the new Fabia, Skoda say not to use it, I would trust their word, at least during the warranty period

Also in the higher powered car, I would steer clear until I was 100% sure!

Believe it or not the original Diesel (built by Rudolf Diesel) was designed to run on coal dust !

Of course, you should know that, that Rudolf Feller did not invent the Compression Ignition engine, he just improved it. It was an Englishman named "Herbert Akroyd-Stuart" who did. Wikipedia - Herbert Akroyd Stuart

This old video explains it very well.

I use to run my old mk2 Golf GTD on used chipfat that had been strained twice and a chemical added to it to kill the fatty saturated fats in the chip oil. ran well - made about 200-300 litres of the stuff and ran fine, injectors were quieter and gave a bit more bhp, but not a huge amount. only problem was freezing in the winter - so ran it 50/50.

Older diesel will run on just about anything as the pumps are mechanical - not new ones!

I used to have a petrol Golf GTi MK4

But then going on to a diesel . I now want mor fuel economy

But I have been told , this is a no no

PD`s no

I did think about the none turbo`d one to do it

But hey I like power too
