Featured Replies

As many know i have a 1.4 16v 2001 fabia, and recently its been drinking oil i put in just under a liter a month ago when the oil light flashed when i went around a corner and now the same has happend, i did also notice a miss fire a little while ago and replaced the spark plugs and when i did number 4 cylender was caked in oil, could this mean the piston rings are failing? any help most welcome!

Could be valve stem seals?

Do a compression test. If reading low, piston rings, if normal valve stem oil seals.

thanks its due for a service soon aswel so may explain increased consuption however how much would it cost to get fixed?

How much? It will all depend on bore wear if it is ring related...

so quite a bit then, bum! :'(

You could always take the car to a MOT centre and pay for an emissions test

A fair bit as the head has to come off, camshaft removed, hydraulic tappets removed, collets, and valve springs. Parts are pennies, but labor will be high. Dearest items would be new head gasket and all the head bolts.
