Featured Replies

right i liking the look of doing this......... few quieries:

1) is it easy to do?

2) is it reversable?

3) bit random but ive been told that sticking the reg onto the side so like offset is illegal unless its a jap import?

any help?

cheers

hehe im waiting for the this tread is rubbish without fotos pic haha :giggle:

So all Alphas would be illegal then, that's illogical :giggle:

what the hell does this look like ................................ My first stab in the dark would be you want to draw spots over your car, any one else wanna play pictonary?

Ask Jason (Devonutopia)

IIRC you hack the numberplate section out, cut the crash bar (optional) and relocate the plate :D

No its not illegal to move the plate and no its not reversable (buy another bumper)

HTH

its easy enuff to do i used a blow torch and a stanley knife but i have a black car as u see and you can get away with out having it painted as it sort blends lol as for reversing it is yes ...... buy a new bumper :giggle:

side mounting is fine as long as the text is the correct size and style and it is on a flat surface pointing forward ooh and it has to have the bsa numbers i think its that hope that helped a bit feel free to ask

As long as the front plate is legal and visible you'll be ok :)

thanks for the info, still caught in two minds whether to do it or not

1) fairly easy to do.

2) not reversible as you have to cut out part of the bumper.

3) most likely not as you cant fit a 7 digit legal uk plate in the space at the side. private plate with less letters will cure this issue, import plates wont be legal due to the car not being an import.

4) yes, my plate is illegal but i havent had any issues with it currently.

There are no regulations that I've seen governing the size and shape of the plate.

my letters are slightly smaller to fit in the space so they dont meet regulations.

i think mines is perfectly legible and probably why i havent had any problems with it.

How much of the bumper do you have to cut out? can you just remove the numberplate holder and stick the numberplate in its place?

I could be miles out with this - but does the number plate not have to be on the furthest forward part of the car, or be the furthest forward part of the car. Or does it not sit that far away from the front or the bumper, hard to tell in some of the photos how curved they are.

As said, I could be wrong with this, just heard it mentioned somewhere.

Legally it has to be infront of the front pair of wheels - thats the only stipulation to the placement of the numberplate!

I think the main rules on the letter font and spacing is for anpr (automatic number plate recognition) cameras, although with small deviations like yours i'd assume they're still readable :)
