The cameras use similar technology to the average speed check units currently in use on motorways. The difference is that they can track cars in built up urban areas. If they find a car has covered a distance at an average speed higher than the limit, fines can be automatically generated.

Law abiding motorists are an easy target for the governments revenue generation. OK, you dip over the speed limit and you are breaking the law would be the reply I would expect and this system could counter that but I think that common sense should prevail when dealing with speed in general. Better driver education and more police on the road is the only way, but this costs money, so cue another stealth tax :)

indeed, surveillance and control... frightens me how its going... local goverments telling you how to dispose of your potatoe peelings and fining you if you dont ect ect , seems they have forgottent they are paid by us to serve us, NOT tell us what to do, and control what we do, its not a dictatorship.... It frightens me....:(
