Hardest Colour to keep clean?

Featured Replies

I used to think my black magic vrs was hard to keep clean but holy balony, how aweful is ovni yellow to keep clean :o

At least black magic covered the soot on the back end :o

10 minute drive in Ovni yellow and the back end is pitted!! even washing doesnt take the soot off you need to use tar remover

Its turning into a once a day wash :(

the greyish one is an absolute pain the mazda is gunmetal grey and it wont stay clean! :giggle:

Use less WOT :giggle:

The soot reminds you the engine's working and is testament to the power of your engine ;) Keep WOT and keep it mucky ;)

I have metalic silver and I find that after around 20 miles I need to set aside 45 minutes to an hour cleaning time. It is easier all round if the car stays in the garage really.

I have a white fabia. I can barely bring myself to clean it knowing that in a day or 2 or one patch of water... and all my hard work is ruined. It's also the hardest to get clean in the first place.

My graphite Grey one seems fine...looks good when clean, doesn't take much effort, and stays good for a while.

would a clay bar do the same or a tar remover better?

I think Black cars are the hardest to keep clean. White and silver ones don't show the muck (only soot).

What is this WOT that you are on about?

WOT = wide open throttle.

Black in summer just looks dusty, just washed mine as had the afternoon off and windows are now dusty again lol

For me Black is the worst, it shows everything soo badly, although at the moment its grey!

A clay bar is incredible for tar removal, depending what cutting grade you get. But when you clay your car the idea is that you strip the car back to the clear laquer and then build your wax over it, Ive done it on my car, and its very rewarding when you see tar marks now coming off with maintence shampoo and a gentle rub on the area with a finger nail

id say black is the worst colour because once uve cleaned it 5 mins later it looks dirty again

Polish/sealant and a couple of layers of wax are the answer :)

blackmagic + volcanic ash = not a good look!

just cleaned mine, could wake up tomorrow with more of the same!!!

my friend has a silver vrs and another one down my road is yellow. Mines black. I'd say black and yellow are very hard to keep clean. silver is easiest. Some people buy silver cars for that reason - as it means doesn't need washing regularly.

Ive heard black is the worst colour to have on a car as it shows every little imperfection, now a sprayer told me this so its not just rumours!
