Not seen the Skoda implementation yet, but on the Saab (classic 900 model before GM turned it into a Vectra in a posh frock) the main beam stalk worked as "pull, pull", and toggled the main beam on and off. However whenever you switched the headlamps on, they always came on in low beam. One of the reasons for this was that the Saab headlamp switch could be left in the "on" position all the time, the lights were ignition controlled and when the ignition was off all the lights were off (there was a separate position for parking lights). In northern european countries drivers often wanted to have headlamps on no matter what time of day, so this meant that they just left the switch on the on position, but the main beam reset itself whenever the ignition was switched off.

Never tested that in the Saabs, as by the time I park up I'll have switched main beam off anyway...

:) What colour you having ? Looking at the Scout thread perhaps we should organize a Scout get together !!

2.0CR with MFSW & Maxidot in Anthracite Grey (plus maybe a cheeky trip straight to Baker21 for detailing, if I can slip it past my SO )

The Arctic Green DOES look good though :thumbup:

Add some Girl Scouts and call it what you will ...... :giggle::rofl:

Does this mean an Elegance ordered now will come with the Proxima wheels instead of the current Crateris? Defo prefer these new ones and I've just ordered today!

No, the Crateris wheels remain in production, however the Proxima wheels are replacing 16" Lyra and these will not be available anymore, just as a spare part for a certain time.

Regarding the 3-spoke MFSW for manual gearbox, according to informations from Skoda, 3-spoke MFSW for radio and radio+phone was postponed to 45th production week of 2010. The 3-spoke MFSW for DSG is in production without any restriction.

That's a shame!

Just had a thought - is the 3 spoke MFSW leather?

New 2011 MY brochure on the skoda-auto website, shows e.g. the Proxima alloys

http://new.skoda-auto.com/SiteCollectionDocuments/Catalogue/NewOctavia/NewOctavia_Catalogue_ENG.pdf

The Scout brochure has some good pics of the optional LED DRL's and the new safari colour:

I'm still undecided between the LED's or fog lights.

Not sure if we will be getting foldable door mirrors in the UK though.

Good find thats very interesting. I thought the LED's would look just like the fog lamp but with the LED's inside.

I'm having them fitted. I've only used the Fogs a couple of times in the last 3 years.

I must admit that I have changed my order to include LED's and the new wheel option.

We do get some foggy days here in East Anglia and I have always thought that fog lights were essential, but to be honest driving cars in the past that haven't been equipped with fog lights has never been a problem.

I shall wrestle with my conscience a while longer (I'm not sure if I dare change my order for a third time)!

Have you ordered Xenons ? If not then you MUST get them !!!!

Has anyone actually taken delivery of a week 22 biuld vehicle yet? or indeed been catagorically told they will do before Thursday 17th.

My Week 21 build week car is in the dealer now and could have picked up mid next week. But I am away so will be the following week. I suspect it will be a push to get a week 22 car before the 17th.

The dealer told me that my car is Week 22 build, I'm taking delivery on Friday 17th. I'm sceptical that it really can be a Week 22 build with such a short time between manufacture and delivery. Luckily for the Elegance there is little difference - as far as I can tell just a slight difference to the way the headlamp flash/dip works. Anything else like DRLs is just software and can be turned.

I'll post again when I've been able to see for real if it is a Week 22 car.

Just been to the dealer to see if my car was waiting for its PDI. I found it and I think that it is Week 22 / 2011MY.

This is the production label on the screen:

10495_2011MY.jpg

When I looked into the car the left-hand column stalk has the self-cancelling main/dip graphic per the 2011MY handbook and brochure.

Alloy wheels are Crateris. I forgot to see if it had a multi-function steering wheel, but I'm not expecting it to as I read elsewhere on this forum of delays to that.

Apparently some of the codes mean:

8AG = Radio with CD/MP3

9J9JCS = code not found :-(

948029 = code not found :-(

5K5 = Transit coating film with additional transport protection measures

C2P = Alloy wheels 6.5J x 16

9W0 = W/o car phone preparation/installation

1D0 = Without trailer hitch

0VF = Information kit in English

GR0 = Without emergency tire inflator

3S2 = Black roof rails

6M5 = Trunk net

F0A = No special purpose vehicle, standard equipment

8K8 = Low beam assistant with "Coming Home" function

(Thanks to the VW Decoder)

I'll update this weekend when I get the car.

I'd already posted on the build week thread, but thought the info is useful here...

My week 22 build is at the dealers and I'm collecting it on Friday.

Will soon know if it's week 22 as I ordered a PD140 and am "confirmed" as getting a CR140. :-)

Don't forget to let us know what it's like!

BTW what box does it have?

Manual 6 speed as I've had some real problems with auto and CVT boxes in the past.

Will do a quick review once I've played. Hoping it's as much fun as the PD...

Collected the car yesterday, it is indeed a 2011MY and all as ordered: Elegance Estate, 1.4TSI, DSG, Sunroof, Curtain Airbags, Light Assist, Maxidot, Fullsize Spare, Mats, Dog Guard, Anthracite.

On the 2011MY front it seems to be a bit of a "spot the difference" competition and the only difference I can see is the self-cancelling dip/main beam operation for the left-hand column stalk. I don't think anything else was due to change on the Elegance trim. It seems that the MFSW was delayed in introduction, and it's never been clear if that was coming on the DSG cars anyway. Crateris alloys remains for Elegance. There is a boot net and boarding spots which I wasn't expecting. The rear reading lights remain (and a very nice angled installation on the back of the sunroof buldge).

I bought that car "from the brochure" without any test drive, and so far I'm delighted with the drive, the quality, and the features. In all the best ways it reminds me of the C-class estate I wrote-off fifteen months ago. The 1.4TSI and DSG are a nice relaxed combination and in "D" head for the high gears promptly and utilize the torque - at 30 mph it selects 6th gear and drives very happily.

I'm planning to add the Fiscon handsfree, a 12v socket in the dash-top box, and enable DRLs and cornering lights in due course. So far no issues with sound insulation; I'll upgrade if needed.

Sounds spot on - pics when you can mate.

Hiya all,

Just a quick update. Very pleased with my new beastie. CR engine is definitely more refined than the PD I originally ordered. 180 miles done since Friday evening and it has been amazing. Average consumption (on the trip computer) is 48mpg.

Amusingly I also got £125 refund on my purchase as the new tax band (D = £90 per year) means zero tax for year 1...

Running in as per manual (being well behaved on throttle use and not revving high) and been suprised by performance (comparing to my previous Audi A6 Avant). Easier to use at motorway speeds and so very flexible round town.

Missus thinks it is a more pleasant vehicle as a passenger as well!
