CR DPF Differential Pressure fault

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I got a warning light on the dash today and hooked up the VCDS to find out whats wrong. I had 2 faults showing. I coule clear the one for the exhaust pressure sensor which cleared the warning light on the dash, but the DPF fault is clearing and when I go back in for fault codes its there again.

Any ideas? Its covered under warranty until the end of August so I'm not worried, but I would like to know what it might be before I bring it in to the dealer.

Possible faulty differential sensor I've been told

Cheers

I brought it to the skoda dealer last Tuesday and he diagnosed faulty readings from the sensor. 5 to 10 days for the sensor to arrive :o

The car is not driveable since Sat. I have a load of lights on the dash flashing telling me to get to the workshop. It's being towed to the garage in the morning :(

I hope the sensor arrives sooner rather than later. Is your cars engine common rail?

octavia vrs cr diesel 2009 - Found errors codes P2453, P0471 and P0124 , skoda dealer told me (while in for a regular service) that it was the way i drive the car and to take it out on the motorway and "give it a blast this will cure the errors"....what a load of pants.....60km on car and this has only started happening.....still under warranty......errors are appeared again shortly after service......

Get them or another skoda sales to measure the readings from the sensors like the garage did with mine. I'd say its a faulty sensor (G450) !

Is your car still under warranty with a remap?

  • Author

Yes the sales knows it is and has no problem with it he knows the car is well looked after. There is 45k kms on it since the remap

This whole DPF business is such a **** up. Everyone with a TDI Vrs seems to have the same or similar issue and warning lights dont inspire any confidence in a car costing me over 17 grand. At the moment, mine is in the garage for at least 5 days and because the dealer doesn't have a courtesy car available til tuesday, I'm left with 2 bus journeys and then walking to work about 2 miles from the bus stop. Its not their fault as the car just stopped and went into "Im screwed" mode but this is the third time to the dealer this month. The insult that I feel most is this driving style thing. I do forty miles a day on a mixture of A and B roads and I'm not slow at all. If I was slow, why would I have bought a VRS? This thing regularly gets booted 3 or 4 times a week and each way to work is 20 miles which I dont consider a short journey. I'm really hoping its a sensor but I will be really annoyed if they try to charge me for a DPF as I've driven it on average journeys, regenerated when the DPF light as it has come on and done everything to the book. I cant understand why DPF is becoming standard on all diesels when it is still flawed. Why not wait until technology is good enough to keep these things working for the life of the car. The worry for me is overtaking something big on an A road and half way round the car going into "get me to a workshop mode" . I just dont need that at all because I want confidence in it. Might have to wait til warranty ends then de-dpf.

My PD TDi Vrs (07) is in at the Stealers Tuesday for a repair to the Cruise Control ( again ) I understand there was an Update, recall about some sensor in the Exhaust. Can they tell if this has been carried out or is that a different story?

I do read the forums alot and this dpf comes up time and time again, im guessing my 2010 2.0pd unit has one fitted, ive only covered about 19k in the six months ive had the car and it does get some welly when im out, with my work it changes from day to day, sometimes i might only nip out a few miles and others a few hundred, is doing a few miles not good for the dpf and if so why.

I'm on my 4th Delta P instrument!

Steve

you dont have to drive the car hard for it to regenerate, just drive at a constant speed around 40mph but it can take 15 minutes for it to fully regen. theres another thread further down giving a full explanation what to do. why are the dealers keeping it for 5 days??
