fabia/polo rear brake upgrade

Featured Replies

just woundering what calipers and carriers people are using for upgrading the rears on a vrs/polo. im on discs already but i want the vented's that everyone seams to be running. got anniversory 312mm's on frot heard the rears also fit but was woundering what elce fits as hard to find crashed anniversorys. heard octy mk1 and tt also fit is this right or are people lieing. also is it a stright forword swop i.e handbrake cables and brake pipes. thanks alot

I doubt you would notice much difference with uprated rear breaks as the fronts do most of the work.

people have said that when the rears are fitted it stops the nose hitting the floor under hard braking. they look good aswell haha with the fronts fitted now the rears just look poo haha and tiny.

haha

Cosmetically the rear discs my be lacking.

Functionally they're all you need.haha.LOL.

256mm vented rears are a straight swap...work better/look better...only slight mod is you have to cut the lip off the disc backing plate or fit new ones from a golf mk4 and elongate the bolt holes ...

spot on buddy just what i am after just find some now then the fun begins. take it its the mounting point hole u elongate?

Fronts are just a straight swap for 312`s off a tt, leon, golf, octavia etc, but you need cailpers and carriers too. As for rears they do look tiny, but do the job. I`d consider changing them eventually, but not top on my list right now.

Matt

yes the disc backing plate mounting holes need elongating a little ...looks much tidier than cutting the lip off existing backing plates...256 rears are fitted to a lot of vag cars...audi tt/golfs...plenty in breakers yards now..

Yes i need stub axles?

Upgrading the rear brakes is pointless.. they only do around 15% of the braking at best anyway.

For what itll cost, (i dont think anyone on here has actually done it because its not straightforward) its defo not worth it...

If you want to waste money bigass pimping back brakes get the ECS kit.

256mm good, but not the best upgrade

as your rears do about 20-30%, you need a proportioning valve for rears to do about 50%

Here is my brakes (in russian)

rear 256mm i've changed for 280mm

looks the part but will obviously be pricey and only needed for the high powered cars..

1300 usd including each bolt and washer

for the whole system

£860 way out of most peoples budget...then theres labour to fit if needed... :o
