Touch up pens...

Featured Replies

Hello,

Bit of a newbie question but recently have spotted more and more scratches paint dings etc on the black magic.. bit annoying to say the least! So previously I simply used Halfrauds stuff @10.99 for the trio pack. I've seen some other threads saying mix lacquer with paint [50/50 ratio], and use cocktail stick or no1 paint brush for best results (also patience!). I dont have the 3rd too much but i'll give it a go! :D

SO best and inexpensive touch up pen option?

Thanks!

Personally I like the Halfords pens due to the metal nib, makes application much easier.

Problem I find with the actual Skoda ones is they are fairly thick and dry rapidly, hence getting a nice finish is difficult, even with an art brush. Never had any luck the the cocktail stick.

I put a post on here a while back to see if anyone knew what you could thin the stuff down with but noone did. It would make a much neater job if you could put multiple layers of thinner (thus easier to manipulate).

i use the skoda kit its cheaper than halfords and with some patience you can get good results.

I have a gold fabia, not my choice @ 17 my auntie gave it me, so i need to get rid of stupid scrathches which make it look even poorer than it is lol, do halfords sell gold?

Halfords dont seem to have many Skoda colours by default. I dont know if the VW ones are the same. For example, my car is Corrida Red, they do a VW flame red. The VWs I see are much the same colour as mine, but who knows. Anyhow, if you take them the paint coade (should be on the sticker near your spare wheel if its anything like the Octavia) they can mix you the colour in a variety of different sized pots.

While the comments are right about the skoda ones drying quickly I've had not issues with them using an art brush. :)

Has anyone experience of this product ?

Sounds a bit like paint it, then use fine glass paper and scratch-x to blend it in :)

Must be superior surely, it costs more :giggle:

Besides, Wheeler Dealer's Mr Brewer endorses it, as he does with my car's GardX paint treatment :giggle: :giggle:

I found Skoda touch-up paint to be cheaper than Halford's stuff. Applied with a 000 sable brush, no problems, although it does need a lot of shaking/mixing, and can dry a bit quick.
