Cupra Bush Install: What's with the Boom?

Featured Replies

Well I took the undershield off and found that the gear linkage cables were loose above the exhaust shield and were just shaking around creating a percussion drum sort of noise, these were obviously dislodged from whatever holds them in place when the botched cam belt was changed.

Anyway I have strapped them loosely together with a nylon tie to stop them from vibrating on the exhaust shield, it's now much better.

Many thanks for the tip off rum4mo.

Well I have finally removed the 'too noisy' Cupra console bushes and the Powerflex front bushes from my 1.4 TDI, what a joy it now is to drive without the vibrations and Booming, Booming noise, it will, if need be, pull away in 5th at 1000 rpm as smooth as silk - I have fitted the OEM front bushes and Bilstein rear console bushes supplied by Jorilly.

As you have already guessed, I do NOT recommend fitting the Cupra and Powerflex bushes to the 1.4 TDI model.

I had the "X" console bushes (from Octi 4x4 est)..ripped them out and fitted the new Powerflex ones...Brill!!!

The front bush on the wishbone I have the Powerflex one BUT would NOT recommend it...BUT WILL recommend the SuperPro version as it has a thicker (better) crushtube!!! And for the rear lower engine mount see my post

The Powerflex console bushes are very easy to fit by hand...and in common with the other console bushes from SuperPro and Whitleline they are much better at allowing the inside wheel to make full contact with the road...much better grip if powering around corners etc than the "X"!! and the only additional noise (slight) I get is from the engine mount with my current combination B)
