Factory/transport wax

Featured Replies

I'm sure most of you will think this a strange post, but I've been known to have my idiosyncrasies.....

I've always been more of a 'matt look' person than a shiny, shiny, popstar wannabee..... ie here http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=149106 I prefer the pictures early on rather than the finished product!

So, could I ask the dealer to leave the transport wax on? Then how long could it stay like that? 2 years, 3 years?

Has the added bonus of instantly checking if the car has been damaged in transport!?

Thanks

'Dirty adder' ;)

PS my car will be pretty much same spec/colour as the one in the detailing world post.....

You cant really because large sections are covered in plastic sheet and not waxed, while others are.

Just ask for a wash only

Think you'd be the only person in the UK driving around in a waxed car. Get it washed off!

Transport wax, as you call it , isn't used at all, just the white plastic sheets. Haven't seen the 'wax' in years on any make. Paint is now much more durable and so the covering is not needed to maintain the 'from the factory' look. The plastic is not a paint gloss protector, but a chip/damage protection.

I agree with not having the dealer clean and prep the car, that avoids what seems to be non-optional dealer applied paint swirls.

I would have the car detailed like in the link (or spend time and do it myself).

Silver may be a very common colour, but with the correct products to obtain a deep gloss finish...... it looks fantastic.
