How about this?http://www.boot-buddy.com/bumper-protector.asp

Have just ordered the bumper protector from this website (actually has the yeti listed on the website!). Will let you know if it's any good. Cost £23.99 with postage...

I installed the Skoda decorative-protective strip. I guess it is more decorative than protective. The finish is identical to what you have on the lower part of your bumper. I can guess that surface scratches can be removed with scratch removing polishing creams and wax.

Thanks. Is it fixed with glue or screws?

Hmmmm. Interesting question.

The strip has already 2 sided mounting tape installed.

Theoretically, the instructions provided with the strip prompt to use:

A special solvent to clean the area of the bumper.

A special primer-activator to prime the area.

A special glue/cement (the type used with a gun like the one used for silicon glue tubes etc.).

Specially designed stencils to help mount and mark the mounting area.

(all above with Skoda product codes and not included with the strip)

I asked the parts department in my dealership for availability and prices. I managed to get the primer and cement, but they were too expensive (almost 80 euros for both).

I also mounted this:

so I kind of evened the high cost.

The stencils and the solvent were not available and they were too expensive. I opted to prepare-clean the area with dishwashing liquid and de-ionized water. I also used masking tape to align the strip and aid in priming and mounting.

So, no screws, both tape and cement.

Hmmm. Sounds like a bit of a palava!

Well, I guess I could have used similar-compatible products but I opted for the expensive (through the dealer) recommended ones. Let me note that the cement is a Henkel product and the primer is a Betaprime (the exact names are given in the instructions). If you are lucky, you can get them from a specialized hardware shop at a far better price.

hmmm. Was a bit complicated! I think maybe Speedster is a flat pack wizard! I however, am not!

Yep - looks like a good product...Will let you know when it arrives

Well me Lady, I can’t argue with you.

Like I said in my first post, the strip is more decorative than protective.

I actually have a small doggy so when I have him in the Yeti, I use a special cover for the rear seats and 2 point doggy seatbelt straps (attached in the middle seat). One passenger can be accommodated easily in the back, two would not be too comfortable.

I think maybe Speedster is a flat pack wizard! I however, am not!

No... nor me :giggle:

What do you think retro gal...I feel a poll coming on... To be or not to be a flat pack wizard Yeti owner that is the question!!! :D

I think maybe Speedster is a flat pack wizard!

I suppose I am...

I suppose I am...

Speedster- it's no bad thing... a very admirable trait  very important to us "damsels in distress" :wonder:

You've done a great job with your decorative strip (on the car!) and I love the eyeliners!! B) ... what are they and where did you get them and how much were they and...?? anything I've forgotten?

If I get any...You can come round and do mine :giggle:

Lady Penelope

ps I think that's enough of my waffle for now!

You can find everything in the official Skoda Yeti accessories catalogue.

As for the mounting, I’d be glad to assist, but it is a long journey from Greece.

ps Red Dog - do you have a red setter by any chance??

[/color]

Actually, he's an Australian Cattle Dog.......speckled red! 7.gif

aahhh...a bit of a long way to travel

BUT then again maybe you like you might want to emigrate??... judging by the problems / strikes over there?...not a good time

...BUT then again, again!...that will be us soon enough... :S ... after tomorrow when the the boot gets stuck in by which ever party gets control  and it least you've got the weather and the warm sea and the olives ...

How does Retsina go with Pimms?

How does Retsina go with Pimms?

I have never tried Pimms and I am not sure we can even get it here in Greece.

If it helps, Retsina mixes with Cola just fine.

Anyway, emigrating is an attractive option for me. Apart from the weather, I do not fancy too many aspects of the lifestyle here. I even look like a Brit. Me thinks I’d fit there just fine!

  • 1 year later...

If you have a dog, I recommend a liner from hatchbag.co.uk with rear bumper flap. :)

I'm going in for one of these (option 2) next Friday but the problem I have is that our Springer is in the car before the boot is fully open, hence the possible need for a protector. Will see if she scratches the plastic, if she does one of these will be ordered.

Suggestion - train your dog. :)

This is the next item on the list of Training now that the Shooting Season is over, will have time to spend on Training. She's only 11 months old and LOVES going in the car.

She's learnt to flush and retrieve pheasants so she's learning well
