Back bumper - dog claw damage...

Featured Replies

I'm really worried about my dog scratching the back bumper every time he jumps into the back of my yeti...I've seen on here that perhaps the decorative silver bumper strip is plastic and not very protective (although there's one on Ebay that states it is stainless steel)....Any clever ideas to cover the bumper in a tasteful way? I think if I laid a blanket over it, my dog would probably slip on it as he's accident prone!!

have a look at this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bumper-Kick-Tread-Scuff-Scratch-Protector-Black-10cm-/130381943716?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e5b5e93a4

only a tenner with postage! I'l be getting this myself once Yeti is finally delivered, or my 2 dogs will have the bumper badly marked.

i got one for the same reason it is fixed with two screws under the floor liner so it stays put when the dog get in and it covers all the bumper only £7 so if it lasts 6-12months its well worth it

Thanks for the photo. Another yeti owner on here said that it's not very durable and quite brittle - not sure it's up to my dog - he huge!

So where do you fold it away when the dog is in the car?

Or how about one of these:

Dog ramp.

Cool...But it's a bit of a palaver with the amount my dog is in and out of the motor :smirk:

Gloves; a manicure?

How about getting blade tape or venture sheild?

While looking at the Skoda accessories, I noticed this 16" and 17" snow chains Part No CEP800001. at £65.

Does this mean that we can now get snow chains to fit 17" wheels?

I'm a dog owner too, and I've been considering this topic quite seriously. I think the problem with a lot of the "stick-on protector" solutions - such as chrome strips - is that the protector itself will get scratched and look unsightly and/or require regular replacement.

However, just had a look at the Ventureshield product you mention bhud and it looks really tough, and designed to be easily removed/replaced

There are quite a lot of distributors in the UK too (visit this page and select UK from the drop-down list.)

At the moment though there doesn't seem to be any custom templates available for the Yeti. Presumably though one of thier better distributors will be able to make one up, or perhaps one can order a regular-shaped sheet and cut it to fit oneself.

If anyone does go for Ventureshield and has a custom template made that covers the Yeti bumper, perhaps they could share that with us? I certainly will once I've picked up my monster.

Hi,

The Ford motor company do a heavy duty clear Bumper protective foil for most of their range, I've used the one for a Ford fusion on Fabia and Octavia rear bumpers and it works very well. The Fusion example is one of the bigger ones and allows for a bit of "Fettling" to make a good fit. I'ts cheap @£25, easy to fit and almost invisable when in place.

i just fold it into the boot and the dog sits on it she got the hang of it after 2 or 3 goes

I used to have a Vectra Hatch. My dog would have scratched its rear bumper getting in & out. My solution was to use a carpet runner (£15) which not only kept the boot area clean but it could be unfurled to cover and so protect the bumper. It also allowed my to sit on it when I returned from my walks and felt like a coffee in the fresh air.
