Purchased my fabia not long ago, and want it remapped. Only a moderate one (either jabba or superchips generic one). I have no intention of going further with engine mods.

Now, the cars on 70000 with original clutch. Odds says itll start to clip when i get the work done. Now, i know about the sachs organic clutches etc etc, but if i replace it with an OEM clutch, would the remap rip thee clutch to bits within days of having the car or what?

I appreciate its all about how i drive, ie feeding in the power etc...

Does remapping always mean an uprated clutch, or will an OEM one do?

Thanks

Dan

Limit the torque and an OEM clutch will be fine.

Mine was remapped by Jabba at 48k and has done almost 30k since then on the standard (probably original) clutch with no problems or slip what-so-ever.

I know Jonny5ive had his Fabia remapped around 30k and is now on around 115k and still running standard clutch.

I'd add a conversation with Ali at Unit 18 to your shopping list; as his custom maps are dirt cheap and can be taliored to suit whatever you want/need.

Cheers mate, many thanks!

My fabia was on 140,000 miles. Original clutch, (motorway miles) got it remapped, and was told the clutch was on its way out. I`d already asked for a limited torque map anyway. I`m on 142,260 odd now, clutch it still ok, not slipping yet, although i know it needs doing soon. As i am going for a bigger turbo, i`ll need a uprated clutch anyway. However, if i was after just a map, a OEM clutch would be fine. Theyre £100, and a uprated one is £650 minimum, so you`d need to muller at least 3 in the life time you have the car to make it cost effective.

Just my opinion.

Clears the whole issue in my mind. Many thanks guys for having the time to write thew above!. Cant wait for a remap and sort the suspension out!

Seeing as you both have 312 conversions, id might as well ask. Apart from discs and calipers, what else is required to carry out the swap (and where from too). Also do they fit under standard vrs alloy wheels?

thanks

Dan

you will need discs/calipers /carriers/pads

from-breakers yard/ebay

and they do fit under oem wheels.

You need calipers, carriers and discs, Some choose to fit octavia/tt brake hoses, just the last bit because they are longer, but they arnt needed, I have the standard ones, they fit, just. The brakes do fit under standard wheels, they look hench under them too :D
