N249 replace or bin it?

Featured Replies

I was looking at another members car at Brands yesterday and he seems to have an N249 issue. There is a stored fault code relating to the N249 and when the car dumps the boost we think there is no vacuum being applied to the top of the DV as the piston is having to be lifted by the pressure of the boost alone (giving a compressor stall noise). I think the next step is to either replace the N249 or bin the whole lot off including all the pipes.

What would people recommend? Is a new N249 expensive?

get rid of it pointless system not needed

let the dv do what it was designed to do mechanically

I've heard this suggested before and I know I could search here or MKIVs or Vortex etc. but isn't there a way to bin it, but not have an engine light?

yep 2 ways

1. plug a resistor into the cable that plugs into the valve

2. if keeping the bracket inplace to hold the plastic trim in then leave the valve in place connected just not attached to anything. ( you will see what i mean when you do it as the valve cannot be seen )

hope this helps

Yep what he said.

not Simon again...... ;)

How did you guess. And he's just bought a W reg Felicia with loads of things wrong with it as well...

I did this on Sunday. Nice and simple job (Thanks to Bowders guide). Makes the car quite a bit nicer to drive. Smoother for sure.
