Bubbling/cracking/rusting?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I er found one day after the rain the paintwork underneath the lacquer is cracking on the bonnet.. looks like germany.. lol I'll have a photo of it in a few mins.. Is it common? Could someone tell me what I can do about it? Thanks.

Definitely not normal, no. Cracks should look like the former Yugoslavia, or maybe China, but Germany is unheard of. It'll need to be a respray I reckon as maps of Germany won't come out with polish :)

Damn, so this wont come under Skoda paint warranty (is there such thing)?

Edit: On closer inspection it looks more like the North Pole than Germany.....:dull:

1st one looks more protruded only because I accidentally did image sharpening.. :(

2nd one has my grubby hand marks all over it..

That looks a bit like the damage bird poop makes when not washed of for aaaaaaaaaaaaages and allowed to eat at the paint. Or Egg?

Noo idea, only had car for 2 weeks... Lacquer isnt damaged though.. its very smooth still.. :(

Ive got a mark on my paint similar to that (much smaller though) and I think it may well be the remains of some seagull shat. I will never know though as it was there when I bought it! I have tried all sorts to get it off, but its still there.

I've got this on my bonnet too, looks a right mess!

bird poo :)

you can try get rid of it a bit with a proper rotary polisher but it will never be perfect

and i believe it is the lacquer not the paint underneath

Thanks for the comments, since theres no fixes im guessing I'll have to live with it.. Will it start getting worse and rust from underneath or something? Im trying to google this but not finding much luck with results.. whats the correct term for this? Thanks!

Its the lacquer thats cracking possibly from bird poo or an egg thats been left on too long.Unfortunately the only solution is to have the bonnet resprayed but it wont rust
