Cornering fog lights on vrs

Featured Replies

Can they be activated by the dealer?

Yes... but you do know they dont work like you might assume dont you?

They work by turning on ONE fog light whilst cornering at slow speeds only.

IMO..its a waste of time unless anyone can prove otherwise.

BTW..My dealer didnt know how to activate them

Mine had to be done with VCDS and I think they're great and totally worthwhile.

VCDS?

How much was that out of interest?

A friend of mine did it for me but the package isn't cheap!

I believe there is a VCDS (or vagcom as it was known) owners map in one of the threads and you could ask to meet up with someone local from there.

It may help if you update your profile so we can see where you live as there could be a local meet to get sorted at?

VCDS = Vagcom cable and VCDS software

Software is free, cables are about £350 (for the proper Ross Tech authentic cables)

If you are in South Wales I can hook you up with the cable (As I have it)

Just out of interest gorebush, have you tried to enable both rear fog lights with the latest (beta 10.3) software as I notice your car probably couldn't have it done initially?

Oops - just noticed that it's not arrived yet!

Well after you've polished it, cherished it and taken lots of pictures of its shiny new body, guess what I might need you to have a look at.................please! B)

Will do :)

In the meantime, the car is freakin' AWESOME :D

Is this mod only compatible with cars fitted with Xenons?

Is this mod only compatible with cars fitted with Xenons?

Nope :)

Ta, will have to look out for other cars using it - not sure if I want or even need it tbh!

I've seen it on Waplords car and it looks awesome

He tells me that it really does help when your taking corners :)

I guess they only come on at night?

Well, when you have your lights on yes

I guess they only come on at night?

 They only work on days ending in a 'Y' :giggle:

If you'd got your lights on during the day then they'd also work as well.

It's been said that they are more effective on the FL cars due to the fog lights not being set in quite as far as the mk2 ones. They really do make a difference!

gorebush - don't forget to amend your Brisky profile now the new car has arrived!

Ah right, I was wondering if there was some logic to only have them come on at night - i.e. with the light sensor.

They don't need a car with a light sensor to make them work

Good point :D

Now if only you updated this as well:-

Awaiting a 2010 Race Blue vRS

Ordered March 11th - Signed off April 2nd - At Dealers 22nd April - Ready for Collection 29th April - Picked up 05th May - Verdict - Awesome

I got the cornering fog light option just for fun (and because our Audi doesn't have them). Can't say I notice any real benefit to them, in fact I don't even notice them working now the novelty has worn off and I don't look to see them come on.

They are fine for fun but if you think that they will provide improved light going around corners you will probably be disappointed.

Which, as I don't think your car is a FL(?), probably proves the earlier theory. :smirk:

It's like anything though, if you have it then you don't notice it as much - if you happen to see it for the first time then you'll notice it a lot more.

i've got them on, on mine as Gorebrush stated and i find they make a big difference when im driving the lanes and totally unlit areas near where i live, i find they dont make quite as much difference if the street is well lit, the same as your headlights dont make as much of a difference.

My car has autolights, the cornering lights only come on when the lights are on either via the auto switch or manually being set to on.
