Finally got it - first week impressions

Featured Replies

Well, after a long wait, we finally picked up our vRS Estate last week. Had to pick it up on the friday so lost out on a days tax, but we wouldn't have it now if I hadn't! We ordered the car on the 1st Feb and were given a week 13 build date. We eventually heard on 5 April that it was built and on the way to Emden. It wasn't until 22nd April that it arrived in the UK though. After a week, we are really pleased with it - only covered 300 miles in that time though. The build quality and finish seem to be great and I am loving the relaxed power delivery. Although the ride is firm, one of the plusses of the FL model, compared to the earlier ones we tested, is that the ride has a smoothness to it! In short, we love it!

Very similar timescales to me getting mine.

The ride is firm, but it's smooth. I love it that little bit more each time I get behind the wheel :) Wanted a vRS Octavia for years, but the combination of: -

1. The facelift model looks beautiful and the interior updates were what I wanted over the pre-FL

2. non VAT

Enabled me to finally get one :)

Welcome to the ranks of the Lincolnshire vRS brigade - enjoy it

WHat do you mean you lost out on a days tax?

I may be wrong but I am sure that a car on first reg can be taxed for up to 1 year and 2 weeks. Hence you should not have lost out on any tax.

you are correct

When the dealer sorted my car out they got it backdated a week so my tax runs until the end of April 2011 :)

Glad to see your enjoying it as I am with mine. The garage could have taxed it for the extra days tho check what it says on your disc .

It's now May so I make that 12 months tax. You will need to re-tax next May. Enjoy your new car.
