I had reason to look under my 56 plate Fabia Elegance Estate today and discovered a finned aluminium plate under the driver's side. What is this for and should it have a cover over it?

Fuel cooler, don't cover it, it needs air moving over it to cool the fuel being returned to the fuel tank.

Thank you. Forgot to say it is a 1.9 tdi. Dont know if this makes any difference.

I too wondered what that was.
