Better get some pills in for the post purchase cognitive dissonance associated with owning a trigger happy TV iPhone.

...... a trigger happy TV iPhone.

That actually made me chuckle

But your just jealous :p :p :p :p :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

cool mate , you just need bigger pockets now , or use you bergen

3G or WIFI?

I was toying with the idea of getting one , but can't justfiy the very high price tag, especially as there will be an inevitable 2nd gen model 12 months later that includes all the "missing" features of the first one.

Just the WIFI version. I have an iPhone and refuse to pay even more on top of the iPhone contract

Pete, it will fit nicely inside my daysack. Also my daysack has a padded section that will hold the iPad & Case just nicely inside ;)

Suddenly got a brilliant idea...

Equip every ISAF soldier, US/UK soldier in Iraq, taliban, warlord with an iPad. Then these conflicts can be resolved on line. Much cheaper. Less bloodshed. No 'collateral damage'.

:off to buy Apple shares: B)

Wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun though.

Is it possible to beat someone to death with an iPad?

And "daysack"?

Do you mean "manbag"?

Why would you want one .......... it's a big iPhone with no flash support and no expandable memory. Sorry, I just don't "get" the iPad, or the claims about magical and revolutionary, it's really not, to me it's just sales hype.

The first person I see using one in an airport lounge, I don't give a feck who they are, I shall point at them and laugh out loud!!!

Nope i mean daysack :p

It's like a small rucksack/bergan a man bag goes around one shoulder and yes i have one of those aswell.

@ Tony

I have already posted this before but for your benefit : -

Rather than carry around my laptop, external drive, mouse, remote contol and associated cables I am getting an iPad to be the bit of IT that I take away.

There are no Mobile signals in Helmand Province so don't need 3G. Also I can load a lot of films and all my music negating he need to take my iPhone away.

I also read a lot of books as you can expect spending 6 months in a dusty sh!t hole. So rather than carry 15-20 books with me I can have these loaded onto my iPad thus saving weight which means I can carry more bullets and as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing.

Granted if I spent my life in the comfort of the UK or other westernised country where all the modern creature comforts we are all used to exist then yes there would be no point having one to add to the 2 MacBook Pro's I already have.

But as I spend a lot of time away and my creature comforts are what I can carry then for me personally it has a lot of use

Carl

Books don't need power :)

In my time in a dusty **** hole we did not have such creature comforts, just contact, sleep and stag on. The only saving grace was that it kept the powder dry for the Brown Bess and cannon :) :)

Yeah but in your Day we still used hot oil, slingshots and stood 200yards apart on a big field :p :p

And with regards to power thats what i have a Power Monkey for. Charges up from a solar panel which is attached to the outside of the Daysack. Then i charge up my (iPhone & PSP currently) over night. The people we scrap against these days tend not to take us on at night so apart from the odd shoot and hope RPG, Rocket or couple of bursts of Auto then night times are generally quiet...ish

As i said the less books i carry the more bullets i can carry ;)

I do *get* the idea of an iPad - it's just a bit too pricey for me at the moment - knock £50 off and I'd have been very tempted.

I'd quite like an E-Reader of some sort which would cost me £200 for something inferior from Sony or Amazon. I'd quite like a lighter alternative to this laptop for browsing when I'm at home - £200 for a netbook. I like the look of some of the gaming stuff on there. I'd quite like a portable media player for use on holidays and so on....

It ticks a lot of boxes for me and does bridge the gap between my iPhone and laptop , but also has a few drawbacks. If it could read media cards it would be great for use with a digital camera so you can see what you've taken more clearly. It probably won't play all the media content I'd like without converting it first and the lack of flash would annoy me - less free gaming.

There are converters for Donkey Porn ........... got a link? :) :)

If it was cheaper, supported flash and had some form of memory expansion, a card reader at the very least, a USB port even better, then I would probably have one to.

Why stop there? I would add -

o makes cups of tea

o hoovers the house

o walks the dog

So are you saying that wanting a single usb slot or an SD / micro SD is unreasonable in a piece of £500 / £600 computermebob

My HTC has microsd, flash support anyod a usb connector :-)

It's not unreasonable , but it is unrealistic , knowing this is Apple.

If they gave you unlimited extra storage via removable media then they wouldn't be able to sell the overpriced higher spec models. It certainly doesn't cost them an extra £100 to add another 32GB
