132k.....and bang......new turbo required.....

Featured Replies

its on a monthly basis, i can cancel it at any time

even if i have it for 2 years, thats still only £360

mine went at 74k

serviced at skoda every 10k & mostly motorway driving.

skoda paid

For a PD engine 132k is horribly low milage for a turbo to go. but unfortunately for some strange reason yours has done so;

- get a new turbo = £700 mark (exchange)

- why not get your turbo you have re conditioned? £300 mark

i would get the turbo reconditioned matey as is easy done and it doesnt cost the earth.

didnt your oil seals go first in your turbo? thats usually the case before anything else really

Note; i need to read all pages of threads before posting!

you mentioned your car has been mapped; if that is the case surely it should be hitting 0 - 60 in at about 7.5 mark?

i've heard on here many people going through 2 or 3 turbos even before they have reached 120k. Must be how its driven?

i change my oil every 3 months/3-4k miles. Air filter and fuel filters are changed every 3/4 months also.

I let the car for 15 seconds after a run. I dont boot it below 2000rpm if i can help it. its not remapped at the moment. Currently done 49k.

how long potentially could the turbo last? are they durable enough to last 200k?

The oil changes your carrying out will do the engine and turbo good..

Despite the oil changes, the turbo can still fail 200k from the engine is very likely but the turbo to last 200k is very unlikely only because nobody so far on here has reported the turbo going strong after 200k many on here are replacing the turbos

Turbos can fail for many reaons short journeys will cause serious wear, the seal could damage, the turbo shaft could have play and so on

Follow the warm up and cool off period and you should be fine keep a grand on the side for the repairs because thats what they cost fitted when they let go..

Thats not strictly true...

Im not stating im 100% right but as an estimate im assuming its under 1k

thank you, i'll always keep a grand back just in case to be sure. I just bought 16 litres of 505.01 5w40 fully synth oil so should cover me for the rest of the year.
