Hi All,

I want to jump into this thread if you dont mind...

I'm contemplation a Fiscon unit for my 2010 Superb, which is factory fitted with a rSAP based unit. - i have already changed my iPhone to a BlackBerry Torch for the car, but the SAP system on a non-Nokia phone is so unpredictable, i have gone back to using an ear piece, which, i HATE!

So, question is, whats the deal with the coding? can a dealer do it for me? would they know what they are doing?! - i dont mind doing the physical in-stall, but i've never played with a VAG COM Car before...

Also, is there anyone in the North East area with one fitted that i could see in action please?

Thanks in advance, Al.

I messed up here and I can't delete it!

As you already have a bluetooth handsfree kit I don't think you'll need to do any coding... Someone with more experience than me will now undoubtedly come along and tell me I'm talking a load of rubbish...

I have a Fiscon fitted to my Octavia and I work in Newcastle, but live in Northumberland. It might be too far away! I could not get the large socket to fit behind my Bolero head unit, in the end I simply cut the wires I needed and spliced them in.

Drop me a line if your interested.

Cheers Grim,

Who fitted & Programmed your unit for you?

I'm only Sunderland-ish area, so not too far away. - Thanks.

Al.

Yes face lift octavia vrs manual, maxidot. Any idea of best place to get the kit from.? Know of any discount places.

Sorry was on holiday when you posted this, so may be too late. Fiscon.co.uk then use the discount code "scirocco123", which I "borrowed" from a google trawl of another forum ;) It gives you something like £37.50 off before VAT.

Damian from DPM Performance (one of the site sponsors) did the coding for me in his lunch-break, for about £30 I think. He's based in Hamsterley Colliery (NE17 7BD).

Wouldn't it be easier/cheaper to get a GSM III+ to replace your existing GSM III? The GSM III+ supports both HFP and rSAP, and works with all phones. Supports A2DP (and AVRCP on newer software versions) as well.

It should also be a drop in replacement with your current unit, just unplug the old unit and plug in the new one, connect your telephone and go (and turn off rSAP on your phone if you don't want to use it).

Hi everyone. Just fitted the fiscon basic plus to my FL octavia with a bolero head unit. All in all pretty straight forward. The mic routing to the door pillar is very easy only needing the fuse cover to be removed and the wire gently pushed under trim. My model has climate so I positioned the module behind that panel and fed the mic into there from beneath the steering wheel. The hardest part was finding a good place for the extra loom plug. I dropped the glove box out (very easy) and used the void between there and the head unit. Integrates very well with the bolero and is definitely worth the money. IMHO unless your very particular you do not need the max dot display.

Not only is there space behind the climate control, but removing the top box helps no end as there is loads of room either side of the stereo.

Also I mounted my mic originally in the head lining but everyone complained it sounded like I had the window down. Even fitted some sound deadening with no luck :(

Thanks SO much to vRS Carl for the excellent instructions and photos.

I have a 2009 FL Octavia 1.9TDi.

I managed to fit my Fiscon box in about 90 minutes, mainly because I was trying to

decide where to put the box (there wasn't room under the ashtray due to there being

air ducts) - I ended up finding a suitable place behind and to the left of the rev counter

and fixed it there using two strips of sticky-backed velcro.

I also fiddled trying to get the wiring connector to the left of the head unit and found that

lifting the connector over the plastic 'side' was way to go and then making sure the wires

were tucked out of the way.

If I hadn't found your instructions I don't know if I'd have attempted to do it but they

gave me the confidence I needed.  The plastic trim removal tools which I ordered off

Amazon didn't arrive in time for the weekend so I ended up using a plastic spatula

from the rack of kitchen utensils and that worked brilliantly.

Thanks again.

Trevor
