Turbo Noise (again)

Featured Replies

Hi Guys this has probably been asked a million times but here goes!

I bought my Octavia VRS last year and ever since I have had it the turbo makes a siren noise when travelling at very low speeds, once you speed up it goes and the only noise you barely hear then is the normal Turbo whooshing noise I have no loss of power and it has been doing this for the whole 8K that I have driven it since.

So is this noise normal? like I said I never hear it once accelerating its like for 2-3seconds and thats it it goes

That one seemed to be doing that on start up, mine doesnt do that its literally in 1st gear for 2 seconds then it goes and no other noise is heard apart from normal turbo noise its just so confusing I have read other posts who say its normal others say the turbo is going? I dont want to replace a turbo for no reason, the garage didnt mention it when drove it recently! ARRGH

Mine didn't do it on start up either for a while. It eventually deteriorated to a point where even on tickover, the car sounded like Airwolf taking off. Hard to describe, but if you used to watch the programme, you'll know what I mean.

If it isn't getting any worse, then there may not be a problem? Mind you, I've owned my car since new and when I was told the same thing I didn't think that was very helpful seeing as I've heard every noise it's ever made since it had 7 miles on the clock.

Why not follow the advice I was given and take off the TIP for a quick look?
