I have an 06 plate Fabia Vrs and a few things I am unsure of.

1. The light for the traction control comes on exactly 10 minutes after I start the car and stays on untill I turn the engine off and then it will do the same thing again the next time I start it up, anyone any clues?

2. Its due for its 40K service soon and my local Skoda dealer is insisting I am due a cambelt change with it quoting me about £450 for both. I thought it was at 60k????

Thanks in advance.

dont know about traction light but belt change is four years or 60k which ever is first

So it will be the four years then, that explains that. Cheers!

Traction control light after 10 minutes, check all your tyres are the same profile and size. If they are OK it's likely to be the ABS control unit, but have battery tested first.

Could also be a flaky ABS sensor, but I don't get why it would be exactly 10 minutes - Have you accurately checked that or is it a guesstimate? I would expect with a flaky sensor for the time to the ASR light coming on to be shorter and shorter over time until it dies and the warning light is on all the time.

Vagcom should tell you what is causing the light. :)

Yeah I checked and its bang on 10 minutes, I noticed it seemed to come on in the same place on the motorway on my way to work so I checked on the trip for a week. Bang on 10 mins. They did run diagnostics on it but because they hadn't had the engine on for 10 mins they said no faults were showing. Next time I will take it in with the light on.

I have a problem with the car shaking when the engine is idling aswell, the dealer said the engine code was known to be 'lumpy', could this be linked? If not, what may cause it to shake?

I dont know of any reason why the car should idle lumpy, neither of the engine codes have idling problems
