Why so smokey?

Featured Replies

Simple question really, why are some maps so smokey you can see em from miles, and others smokey, but not to a crazy extent? I thought the smoke was un-burnt fuel, so if this is the case why so much of it? I know of one car running 210bhp hybrid 130 on a fabia, which smokes a little more then normal, but nothing mad. But then i know of another which is running slightly less, but has a carbon foot print of king kong. Been bugging me for a while now lol

Thanks all

this can be down to the quality of the remap. if the car has been remapped properly it should be in effect using the fuel more efficiently and not throwing it out the back as black smoke. i had this on a previous car remapped by celtic tunning. the car was supposed to produce 165bhp post remap but i doubt it ever got anywhere near that as it threw out so much smoke i later had remapped by another company that didnt chase headline figures and it barley smoked and seemed to be more powerful than the previous pi5s poor attempt by celtic.

Mike

Some people can just map cars better than others. ;) Simple as that.

Its one reason I went abroad to get my mapping ;)

Just a daft question, is your air filter clean and there are no leaks in your intercooler (boost) pipework?

You talking about me!

Yes it is unburt fuel, on mine it happens on full throttle and when I lift off the throttle at high revs only.

And yes a new map is required, as it hasn't been done since the new turbo and other little bits have been changed.

Must get it done soon. Let me know where you live and I promise I won't leave any soot clouds down your way.
