Elephant Insurance

Featured Replies

Is anyone with a modified Fabia insured through Elephant? Was wondering how they are about alloys and bodywork modifications, if they bump up the premium or just don't like mods altogether.

If you can get a quote on their site, why not run 2 "generic" quotes (i.e. vehicle make & model rather than reg number, Mr Another Motorist, etc), one with no mods, the other with alloys listed..?

Just ran another quote with a mates name and his address which is only 5 mins from my place, as their site seems to know if your name and address tie up, as I tried a different name at my address and it kept coming back with an error. I listed modifications and was quoted £276.08 compared to £376 standard. Surely something can’t be right there

For me it was about £60 per mod

Yet for me it was either £5 or £10 per mod, And about 20mins explaining what a RARB actually is and does!

£273.20 FC, GNCB, Legal & CCemoticon-0148-yes.gif

If they charge me extra for a few mods hope its only £5 per mod and not £60 :o

just a heads up, this will show up on your credit history (just as a quote)

I was surprised to find around 5 different companies listed on my report when i ordered it from experian!

all it stated was your name, address and current length at address

Yeah, I noticed that too a while ago when we were looking for the Fabia we had seen a few different cars as well as models of Fabias we liked and ran a few quotes through confused.com to see how they all compared and noticed on my credit report all these insurance quotes. Kinda rubbish when all you're wanting to do is find out how much something is gonna cost and it goes against your credit history

Yeah, although they're generally ignored by anyone doing searches for credit card applications, etc. :)

After seeing this thread I contacted Elephant (I'm insured with them at present) to ask what the additional premium would be if I got the car remapped to 175bhp (purely out of curiousity as I'm quite happy with it as standard) - they told me that they do not cover remaps.

As Elephant are always (by far) the cheapest when I've obtained alternative quotations I dread to think what some of the other insurers would charge me for a modded car.

I was insured with them when I first got a Fabia in 2005. I found they weren't great when trying to add modifications or indeed explain anything about changes to them! So I've not used them since. They were fine as a 'standard' insurer though, and as said, the premiums were competitive.

You're generally better having a word with one of the brokers with a tweaked car. They've made my life an awful lot easier since! The usual crowd - Chris Knott, Adrian Flux, A-Plan, Noel Dazly, Brentacre are generally OK. I'm with Brentacre at the moment.

HTH,

Steve

Just renewed with them for a 2nd year on the Fabia as they were miles cheaper again. Asked them about swapping bumpers and they have included it on the policy with no extra cost :D They've got on the schedule modified vehicle and says if damaged will be replaced with standard parts, but I'm pretty happy with them so far on cosmetic mods. They might be different with performance mods though.

I'm insured with Adrian Flux for my Bora as not many people will insure it due to its mods, and they are very good on price and modifications, but when I tried them for the Fabia last year they were stupid expensive, like £400 odd more than Elephant :o
