Skoda Fabia 1.4 Air Conditioning

Featured Replies

Hi, have just brought a 2000 x reg fabia, love it!

Previous owner hadn't used the air conditioning in a few years so when buying I thought it just needed regassing (yes i took the price down because of that too). Anyhow, took it kwikfit to regas and the guy said he could do it because the system doesn't work? All turns on and stuff in the car but its not cold. Anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it?

Thanks

Do the engine revs rise when the A/C button is pressed, or the tone of the engine change? Could be if it wasn't used for a long time, that the seals have failed and leak too much, or that the compressor has failed.

Out of interest, is it a silver estate you bought with the number plate ending in WFC?

yes the engine revs/sounds different once the a/c button is pressed.

no its not an estate.

Would suggest that the compressor is engauging at least, but beyond that not really much I can suggest. I think F1 autocentres do health checks, and will most likely be able to tell you whats wrong. Think they're FOC too.

Ah, just wondering, as I got rid of mine recently with simular symptoms, and the advert stated the air-con should work again with a re-gas. Thanks though.

Tried replacing the evap sensor? Did that with mine for £57 odd quick fitted because I couldn't be bothered to do it and solved all my issues! Problem on older vehicles

???

Have trawl around GSF and ECP parts on line, best to phone them though as their web sites don't list much. failing that a Skoda dealer. Hang on minute, you did say a Kwik Fit geezer said the system wasn't working didn't you, forget what he said and go to a VAG specialist and they will VAG.com it for you which is more likley to find the root cause of the problem.

Unserviceable or stuck temperature control valve ? Try gently cycling the dashboard temperature control from full cold to full hot and back again several times.

having removed the plastic protector shield underneath the engine, seems the connector had come free/broke...reattached and some duct tape and cable ties and it worked fine for a year or so until the condensor packed in.  £55 on ebay and the air con is all sorted now. :)
